The Swedish model for dealing with the pandemic seems to have been pretty effective. Population of 10 million and in the month of August they have had 1 death and 4 new cases of the virus. The only changes they made were to cancel big gathering events such as concerts and they suggested people social distance. Everything else stayed normal. No closure of work places, no closure of restaurants or bars, no closure of schools. Life just continued on. They have said that they did make mistakes at the beginning by not recognizing what was happening at their long term care homes and as a result over half the people who died in Sweden were from the homes. I believe the average age of people dying in Sweden was somewhere around 82 years of age. If I remember the statistics, the uptake and use of masks is about 20% in Sweden and it is not mandatory to wear anywhere so most people do not.

Comparatively speaking, Sweden has actually performed quite poorly. They have the highest rate of infection among Nordic countries, and one of the highest in Europe. Authorities fully admit that case load and fatalities are higher than they expected, and that the economy has still been adversely impacted. Part of this is due to the other Nordic countries' negative reaction to the relaxed strategy. In any case, even Swedish epidemiologists admit the 'success' of their strategy, such as it is, hinged on demographic and cultural factors, viz., lower population density and a culture that generally is averse to touch-based displays of affection, distancing from strangers, and comfort in isolation - over 50% of Swedish households are solitary.

But leaving alone debates of settled science, masks are super cheap, and wearing one for the scant few seconds you spend in the lobby is no more performative than anything else in this industry.

...if makes MPA comfortable , me=ok... but really , MPA & client take gd hard look @ each other & decide... that mask won’t save u if other infected... but healthy immune system can.

Sure, but I'm not arguing that masks are effective in close quarters. I'm saying that anyone who isn't buying into conspiracy theories probably understands the risks. And hopefully, they also understand how much of this hobby operates on winks, suggestions, and omissions.

Been browsing through this thread and all I can think of is "thank god I don't feel the urge anymore". For those using this method to book, please please I hope you guys are using alt numbers, either burner phone or app. Not using one would be akin to BBFS with a provider with questionable history. Premier is a first rate chain, but come on, the people working there are just human too. What kinds of assurances can the management give to ensure the data is protected??

On one level, its not any more risky than a SP agency keeping a log of their clients' numbers. But, and agency operates underground. A massage parlour like the Premier chain does not. Theoretically, they could be compelled by a court or judge to release that information. A SP agency will just disappear underground and pop up elsewhere. Also remember that people are people...I'm sure there has been more than one disgruntled employee from the Premier chain, or maybe you've harassed that pretty receptionist one time too many or grabbed her ass or boobs when you thought you could get away with it.

I noticed an article today written by a doctor in Sweden and based on where they are trending now it looks like they took the pain upfront and are now moving on. Here is an excerpt from the article

"What about the few formal restrictions that were imposed early in the pandemic? The restriction on visits to nursing homes is going to be lifted from October 1st. The older children, ages 16-19, who were engaging in distance learning during part of the spring, are now back in school, seeing each other and their teachers face to face. The Swedish public health authority has recommended that the government lift the restriction on gatherings from 50 people to 500 people. "

instead of having two phones, check out phones that allow you to have two SIM cards. That way you only carry one phone but can have two numbers, one for each SIM.

The majority of people have no idea that I have two SIM cards in my phone, they think it is just a normal phone. If they know it can carry two SIMs I sometimes get asked why I have it and I tell them the truth, the phone costs less than Apple or Samsung and it just happens to have another SIM slot. So bought it because of the cost not the extra feature.
