Hey everyone I'll be makin my first trip to thailand in August and I know hostels are cheap but what about food and beer. How much should i expect to be spending a night. Ohh ya i drink a lotttttttttttttttt. Another thing from what i have been reading it seems that all the girls in the clubs are hookers. Is this true is it hard to find girls that arent working in the night clubs.

What is this about hostels? I don't know your budget but you can get a very nice hotel room for 700-800 baht, which is like 20-25 dollars for me. If you like to drink then all you have to do is save about 4 6-packs worth of money to stay a night, really cheap. This isn't Paris you are going to, its Thailand....no need for a hostel.
Evrything else is relatively inexpensive as well.
I have only been the once so maybe I'll let the more experienced board members give you accurate prices on the daily essentials.

I rent a small local house ; 3weeks 8000 bath , with frig tv, and dvd-player!


Breakfast: then I am still a sleep!!!

Lunch: 120 bath at mama's kitchen in Karon, if you wake up early, very inexpensive and good breakfast!!

Afternoon: beach chair: 100 bath some drinks (no beer for me during the day!) 100 bath!

Evening diner: with drinks around 300 bath, if I am not alone! Alone less!

Evening, well that depends! If i drink wit a few blokes 500-1000 bath!

But I don't drink so much beers! After a while I go over to soda!

BF : 200 bath, girl not more then 1000, ever!

And if the girl suites me, I prefer to keep her for some days, then bf, but the girl don't ask money, you just give her some money after a few days!

I have to wait until November, much too long!!!!

You can do it for less if you stay low season you can get a good hotel 500-600 bht

Food if you eat cheap maybe 300 bht per day

Freelancer - 800 bht maybe less if shes not pretty.

Maybe 2500 minimum if you want girl every night and not a big drinker.

This question wasn't answered. I think over 90% of the girls in the discos in Phuket are "hookers", which is not a word that very well describes FLs or BGs. Any other input on that, guys? They are nothing like the hookers in America. It is more like "rent-a-girlfriend". Just like renting a car or something, but you don't have to have a credit card or a driver's license, just a condom. You really don't feel like you are with a prostitute, altho you are. It's only $25 American or about 20 Euros, and from what Coolhand says and SteveM about how slow it is there at the moment, I'm sure you can bargain that down, but don't expect the best-looking girl for less than 1000 Baht. I'm sure you could find a cute one, though.
At clubs in Chiang Mai, there were very, very few FLs, and neither of the 3 girls I left with the last time at a disco there were working girls, but that is Chiang Mai, not Patong, and non-working girls may or may not put out for you
But in the shops and hotels you can find girls if you want to play that game. At the laundry, the older lady was eager to introduce me to her daughter, who was pretty cute. At the coffee shop, the girl at the counter was trying to fix me up with her sister, who also worked there. I prefer to pay, because I know what I'm getting into, and can drop the girl at any time, altho even BGs get upset sometimes when you drop them. "You Buttafly," they say, as if it was such an awful thing.
Also, you can buy big juicy hot dogs for 10 Baht, a big bowl of noodle soup with pork or chicken for 30 Baht, or a huge piece of fried chicken on a stick which with 5 or 10 Baht worth of rice is a meal. If you are really trying to get by on little, you can. Also you can rent rooms without A/C, just a fan, for 250 Baht/night down near the gay street close to the Paradise Hotel(look for signs in the windows). BTW, if you stayed in a hostel, where would you take a girl?
It doesn't cost much to stay in LOS, even in Patong. Save your money for the girls. And you can pick them up on the streets when the bars let out or at TaiPan and save the 200 on the barfine. Just don't pick up one on the Beach Road. Enjoy!!!

Jaybee, nice reply got all the info i needed. I am not on a tight budget i have been traveling in china for a year and i guess i am just used to being able to go to the bar and drink a dozen huge bottles of beer for about $5.00can and have a good meal for $3.00can. Smokes are only 1 dollar and good rooms for as low as $5. But when I was in hk i was spending over 200can a day and that took a large chunck of my backpacking money. I will be staying at a hostel because I don't spend really anytime in the room and bringin girls back to the hostel has never been a prob all though in Hongkong I had a screamer and I swear we had everyone in the place awake. The bed was squeking and sounde like it was going to fall apart. Got some weird looks the next day

I actually wont be picking up any Bg's Ill be looking for tourist because they know how a one night stand works, the chinese and thai don't seem to understand the concept. But cheers anyway
