Hi to everyone,
The reason why have joined is the fact that I'm now getting desperate. My life has been awful for the last 11 months ans shows no sign of getting any better.
End of July last year I finished a 7 days on working week ( Security Officer ) and started to have a strange pain down my right leg. I went to the doctors and was prescribed something and told to take paracetamol.
Over the next few weeks as my pain and movement got worse (still only my right leg) I went to see a specialist who said I had all the signs of a prolapsed invertebral disc but had no weakness in the right leg ( a good sign I was told). I also had no numbness or pins and needles. I had an epidural a couple of weeks later which I feel did nothing. My drugs at this point were Ibuprofen 400mg 4 times a day and now co-codamol 4 times a day.
I was put on the NHS waiting list for an MRI and was lucky to have one a month later which showed L4 / L5 bulging but also the disc underneath was not in great condition. However I then saw a neuro surgeon who said they would not operate in my case and referred me to the pain clinic.
I had been off work for 6 months and spent a lot of time resting, and I mean a lot. I returned to work and had physio once a week and my duties were office bound as I couldn't bend to search people.
The ibuprofen was recently started to make my tummy a bit rough as I had been on it for 10 months. I started taking pregablin 75mg a day and amitriptyline 10mg at night. I have since had my pregabalin increased to 300mg a day (i'm a week into this) but no ibuprofen which has meant some of my leg pain has got worse.
The question is what do I do next?
I'm so low, I still struggle to put socks on or trousers, I limp, I'm in pain for 95% of the time, my body is wonky and I'm just not getting better. I've stopped physio, dont really think it did much, but I have some core exercises which I try to do when I'm not drousy which is rarely.
Next month will be a year of this and if I took all the drugs away I think I'd be the same as I was a year ago. Who can help me?
Regards
