Q1 Visa Questions

What I believe is that if you have already gotten 1 yr multiple entry visa before, it is easier to get 2 yr visa.
I had only e mail printout to get my business visa for one year. I had no problem. This was in New York.
By the way the website says for 2 yr visa there is no rush service. It will take one week.

For anybody curious, it turns out I was looking at the wrong website (Chinese Embassy...in Washington DC). I ended having to go to the Los Angeles Consulate, which has a different form from the q1 all together, but is likewise downloadable off their site.

My $3 blue curtain photo machine picture was fine, though they have photo service there fro $10. I ended up going with a Dual Entry Tourist visa (Single was $50 dual was $75), no letter required. They actually didn't even offer a 2 year multiple entry Visa: max one year from the LA consulate. Incidentally, the guy in front of me had a faxed copy of an invitation letter, and they were not letting him get the Visa... they wanted the original. In that case, if you are in a hurry, you might have to write up a fake invitation letter I suppose.

Same day service was NOT available, so I have to go pick it up and pay my $95 ($75 for dual entry + $20 24 hour rush fee) tomorrow.

Also, the fricking number machine was broken, so if you go, don't try taking a number, just start waiting to the far line (the close line is for passport pickup).

By Friday, I will probably be entering China via Hong Kong, which from what I understand, a US passport can get you a 90 day stay without a visa.

I don't know if the picture will be acceptable or not..but if they don't accept it then you can have one taken at the embassy where you get the visa, you might have to pay a little more than on the outside..the picture I alway use is the one I have it taken at the Bank of America for my id and they never charge me for it...

You can glue it on the box or by any mean so that the picture is on the box.I use a paper clip to clip it on there..

I have apply for a one year multi entry there last 2 times..all I need to do is fill out the form and check the multi box and pay them whatever it cost..I think I paid $150..

I have never got a same day service so I can't tell you that..I am sure you don't need to sit there and wait..they probably give you a time to come pick it up..

Multiple entry visas are only for business visa as I understand unless you can convince them that you need multiple entry. I have always gone on business visa, so I do not know if you are going to successful in getting a multiple entry visa without a business invitation letter. You can find all the info in the Chinese consulate website.

One last question, can't I pretend I am just visiting for pleasure (I put "visiting a friend" as reason for travel) to avoid the business invitation letter?

Any identifiable picture is ok.
There are multiple entry business visas for one year and also two years.
Once you mention the initial date of entry the clock starts from that date. You need a invitation letter from some business in china to get the visa.

In New york you go in the morning, pay extra for sama day service, come back in the afternoon and pick up the passport with the visa.

If you don't want to pay for the same day service, you have to come back after a week to pick up.. Staple the picture to the application.

My good friends, I am currently filling in my Q1 Visa app. for my business trip to Dong Guan next week, and have some questions:

1) Is a picture with a blue curtain background acceptable (like at those photo machines)

2) Are you supposed to glue the picture to the box or what?

3) If I am applying for a multiple entry visa, do I REALLY need to list more than one tenative date of entry?

4) For same day service, are they really going to make me sit around the L.A. embassy for 4 hours?

Any help from any of you with more experience would be greatly appreciated.
