An interesting subject here. I recently gave birth to a child with spina bifida. I found out when I was 20 wks along. In the past I have done volunteer work with kids who have autism, ADHD, and cerebral palsy. After finding out that I was going to be a parent to a special needs child my interest in working with special needs children spiked. I think there are many, many reasons to use therapeutic massage as a treatment for minors. I agree that parental involvement is required. I recently have worked with a 9 yr old girl who suffers from anxiety disorder. She has a very difficult time dealing with her emotions. The quiet, relaxing atmosphere allows her a wonderful opportunity to learn how to listen to her body, and control it.
