I use to love goin' to Penang on the train from BKK , some of those trips were legendary.
My wife asked me why I'm posting about the RH , when I don't work there anymore.
I guess because I went to a place I loved going to for 14 years , so I never felt like I was working. Also cause I felt Larry was my Bro not Boss.....and you always look out for a Bro !
Thank you for the compliment on my cooking skills.....my wife presently cooks my recipes and sells them at the Deli Supermarket in Patong.....I myself am lookin for a partner to start a restaurant( after 20 years of cooking here) of my own. But for now , I have a retirement visa.

Went in 2 weeks ago on 2 occassions , both times the girls were barely moving....it was busy yes, because of all the japanese tourists in there, and nothing wrong with my ears ....................the music was SHITE ........

Wait a minute here on this "being approached" topic whether in Rock Hard, or Dragon... or where ever you go agogo... When has there been this "approached" by the girls thing going on??

I always have to ask the mamasan, or just make funny pantomimes to a potential when the girl is dancing to start things off. Offering a LD being the most common ice breaker... but the ones that have ever approached me were either too drunk or too ugly. Not to be harsh on them, but the girls that "approach" are the ones that aren't being "approached". And rightfully so, IMO.

Maybe, a trip to Patpong BKK to see the real business model is in order for some. To me, it is always the guy that takes the pick of his litter... not the other way around...

And, as to the girls that "disappear" in the interim of the night and then spring up again to dance later in the evening, well, that is part of the plan... to get you in a goose neck...

Best advice here... if you see something you like then pounce first, and ask questions later...

AS ATM walking says we are all diferent but personally i absolutely loathe and detest hip hop and rap music its rock rock for me always even the new bands like linkin park thats why my fav pattaya go go bars are angelwitch/baby dolls/the sea/windmill club/whats up none of these bars seem to have any problem pulling the punters in so the problems must lie elsewhere .

the notion that go go bars should play music to suit the bgs taste is a non starter most of the guys my age 40/55 who are the majority especially in patts would not sit and listen to constant rap and hip hop the paying customer should be the priority when it comes to music not the employees.

I couldnt agree more and would love to know what bar is like the one ceejay is hoping/ reffereing to....in phuket/ Bangla.....I like all music and high energy ass shakin music isnt my top ten but if the girls are hot and movin nice.......for that night its my # 1........like ceejay says....if they are happy you ultimetly will be happy....

The point here being Rock Hard is a go-go, not a rock and roll bar. Go-Go's should play any music that motivates the girls to move. If guys are just out to drink and listen to music, then they should move along to rock city. Rock music may have made sense 20 years ago. Maybe the girls could dance to it 20 years ago.

But now Rock Hard is playing music that is older than most of the girls. How could you expect the girls to dance? The music they want to hear isn't even 20 weeks old.

Rock Hard has to make it's choice.
* Be an old-timers rock 'n roll bar with some mostly over-the-hill and sleepy display girls (not dancers).
or
* Get current, play what the girls want to hear and be a quality go-go.

I'm fine with either, but they just put up a big new sign saying go-go, so I wish that is closer to what was offered. So they should get current.

I went to Rock Hard with a few friends some days ago, and I have to say the place have improved a lot.....The staff was treating us very well and there was no hassle from the girls about drinks.......That said the girls was nothing special, to many had stretch-marks after giving birth......Anyway, thats normal in Thailand, seen it in Bangkok as well......

Rock Hard was packed with people and playing good music. And the best thing, no hassle from the fcuking touts:rules:

I usually don't have to sit long before the girls are all over me asking for LD's sometimes even before I have sat down!:love2:
True that sometimes it is the oldest and ugliest that approaches you first, but I just use them as a stepping stone to get the pretty ones sent over!
It can be hard to fend them of sometimes especially if I'm just out for a drink and want to relax or watch a show!

Agreed at our age (52) we would prefer to listen to some gold old 70's rock. The hip-hop knocks out quite a few punters, yet from what I have seen with my own kids (18-22) they love the 70's oldies. Try them at a party and watch them go.

Or try to talk to them! Offer a LD, or just make them laugh. I have never found it hard to get attention when I wanted in any bar or go-go, so I have no idea what you lot are doing wrong. Well except when a Asian tourist is throwing 1000's of baht in to the air.:angry: That said, I have never knowingly been to rock hard, so it may be a bermuda triangle place!?

I find the same.When I go in one of the staff is right there getting me a seat and taking my drinks order.I usually only stay for a few beers but that gives me a chance to relax and watch the girls.I believe that with the new floor lay out the place has improved.As for the music - I am happy as it is better that most Soi music that is currently played.:
