Dude, I was in Heartland last night. A couple of points:

1. 9:00 is way too early for that place. It doesn't even get started until 10 or so.

2. My buddy and I talked with 2 hotties when we showed up around 9:45. We ended up taking them to another bar. I was more of a wingman for my friend, who really fancied one of the girls.

Timing is everything for that place. I think you went too early.

I would say most of the women were not pretty and already talking with other men ( presumably, they also CAME to the place with men, since I did not see a man hooking up a gal there )
There was one woman alone, but she was a 3 to 4, so, no interest in her
There also were 4 women talking to each other, but they seemed to have no interest in being approached ( and, in the time I was there, nobody approached them, in fact )
There rest of the 200 people in that place was men talking to men and some women talking to men
Not a good place to hook up gals, IMHO

Tokyo is a gaijin rich zone, far too many gaijin there now, the novelty wore off in the 60s. One must remember that gaijin have been freely able to go and stay in Japan since WW2, thats alot longer than Korea Taiwan or China.This is why you get stared at in China but not in Japan, the Japanese have been seeing much larger numbers of gaijin for much longer than any Asian countries except of course PI and Thailand.
Japan is the only country in Asia where the level of development is of the same standard as the west, this combined with the first factor combined with the safety of Japan combined with the lack of decent jobs for male uni graduates in western countries plus loads of GIs getting a taste of Japan andit is small wonder that there are far too many gaijin in Tokyo.Adding to the problem is that 90% of the gaijin are male and most are under 30.
There are few gaijin outside Tokyo but living outside Tokyo the p4p scene is nothing like Tokyo. I must emphersise with tokyometropolis.com ALWAYS get a photo or they will certainly be ugly.
But it can be done, there arejust so many hot galsin Tokyo if you try you will succeed but you have to work very hard.It is much cheaper to spend your yen flying to Thailand. I have to agree with Ozgaijin that for most people Roppongi is a waste of time. I am too old for Gas Panic. I tried Motown a couple of times, but I had no interest in the few women who looked available. On a side note, one night I got to observe this small blondish guy chatting up two gorgeous twenty-somethings. I thought that this was really funny because he was the sort of guy would would have NO CHANCE for girls of this caliber in the West. A tall, well- muscled bloke kept trying to chat up one of the two girls and got nowhere.

I've found that Metro and online adds were completely unproductive. After WAY too much time spent writing responses, I finally did manage to score one meeting. THis was a complete disappointment, though, and I didn't pursue it further.

The only success I've had with "civilians" came after I observed a pretty Chinese student working on English in a MacDonalds. I offered to help...and the rest went from there. This was completely a one-off situation, though, and I wouldn't want to count on things like this happening much.

When I first started visiting Japan 15 years ago, it was still unusual to see Westerners in Japan. I got stared at a lot and many of the more outgoing Japanese would approach me to speak English. This just isn't the case any more. It seems that every train car has its requisite number of gaijin. What I'm saying is that it's not enough any more simply to be a Westerner.

I visit Tokyo for short visits of two or three weeks at a time and don't have a lot of playtime when I'm there. I've found that the best method for me is to visit one of the many fine esutes in Tokyo. With a little homework, it is possible to have a wonderful sumata experience with a beautiful Chinese or Korean attendant. Using the online coupons and frequent visitor cards, the visits run something like 12000 or 14000 for an hour of bliss. These girls are often much better looking than any OL that could be picked up out of a bar. Some are downright gorgeous. These girls are often very sweet and lonely working in Japan. There's one I see on every visit and it has become like having a girlfriend in Japan without the hassles.

I might feel differently if I lived year round in Tokyo or was a lot younger. Frankly, though, I just don't see much point in the bar scene. There's the added advaneforum.xxxe that I get to be productive the next day because I'm not waking up after a short night of sleep and too much alcohol.

Asoboo is kind of closed and with Metropolis, 90% of the girls you meet are not-good-looking.

I lived in Japan during 1999-2000 and I must say that it was a different world back then. When the Japanese economy was doing good, yes, it was simple to get laid every night. Especially hanging around bars like Motown House 1 and 2 in Roppongi. Now, that time period is over. Heartland may be the last place where there is even a chance. Kabuki cho is not good anymore as all soaphouses are for Japanese only. The top shelf Japanese women are mostly off limits as well. Again, reserved for Japanese only. I just returned from Japan last night after a weekend there coming back from a business trip to another part of Asia. After going to places like Thailand, Costa Rica, and even Germany, Japan is certainly not a good place to monger. It is too expensive and now there are too few avalable targets, especially in Roppongi.

It was Sunday night for goodness sake! Go to NYC on a Sunday night and you won't find all that much happening.

Roppongi, like Tokyo, like Japan, is a simple equation: you get out what you put in. If you are a wall flower, you will not meet any women. If you are proactive and talk, then your chances are very very good.

I go to Roppongi almost every weekend (usually Heartland). There has NEVER been an evening when I didn't meet a woman with some potential. I'm married, so I have to be careful, but I will play the game up to the exchanging phone number part. I am mostly just a wingman for my friend.

I find Roppongi easy pickings on the weekend. I am 35, average build, average height. I do speak Japanese, which is a help I think.

I don't see what everyone is bitching about: this is the easiest country to meet women without having to pay for sex. Just be a gentlemen, buy them a drink and TALK to them. Also, choose the best time to be there: between 9:00 and 10:00 is when the shakedown really takes place. You gotta have your name in the hat by that point.

BTW, fuck Gas Panic. That place is a dump!

I am going to have to agree with superduper on this. The whole stereotype that if you're an american white boy you're going to get mobbed by hot japanese girls ... is total hogwash from what I've seen. I met up with a girl from MySpace.com tonight and hung out with her in Roppongi. Not only was it completely dead - when I had been told it was a party place every night of the week .... but she laughed hysterically when I told her about this stereotype. She said there are enough americans in Tokyo already ... girls arent that shocked or anxious to meet and bone down with them, or travel long distances just to get to roppongi to meet them.

Gas Panic was 100% empty tonight (Sunday night) as was every other place. I realize that certain "looks" are required for attraction from J girls. Thats understandable. I fit that description though ( i like how that one bricklayer fellow refers to the look as "computer nerd" ). There are some boyish looking guys with good looks that arent geeks or nerds or idiots. Japanese girls are not attracted to nerds or computer geeks. Theyre attracted to the Johnny Depp looking guys ....

In any case, even though I have that look, I get zero attention. I mean I get stared at but its only because I am white. The looks are not that of "wow he's hot" ... they're just moreso "Oh look - someone who isnt japanese. Yawn." Then again I have yet to be around drunk japanese girls. By 1:00, most of the talent has moved on to MUSE (a disco down the street) or some other stop. I have found that the best time to be at Heartland is between 9:30 - 10:30. There is a lot of turnover then and you can keep hitting on different chicks. A beer only cost 500 yen, so offer to buy them a beer, give them a chat and see of it goes anywhere.

1AM is a little late, I think. I have never gone to Heartland without at least talking to a couple of chicks and having a few possibilities. It is usually up to me whether I want to pursue it further or not. I'm married, so I am very discerning.

So, it is Saturday morning here in Tokyo and last night I went to both Shinjuku and Roppongi
I arrived to Shinjuku at about 11 p.m. and it took me quite a while to locate the so-called " Red Lion "
Red Lion is a nice pub, not in front, but in the back side of Mitsukoshi, close to the Lumine hypermarket; the pub is just called " Lion " but the red sign leaves no doubt we are talking about the same pub
The pub was nice, but 75% of the people inside were male gaijin and only 25% were women.
Of this 25%, the 90% were talking with one of the gaijin already
The " quality " of the girls was going from 4 to 5
I saw indeed two or three females alone ( I would not dare to call them " girls " or " women " ), at least, I think they were females, but I had no interest to look further

Arrived at about 1 a.m.
The heartland pub is quite big, high-class place, it has a lot of screens on the walls and there were a lot of very nice very well dressed male gaijin going around.
