If I may ask, why do you refer a client to reflexology? I can see the benefits for my clients to be referred to massage, and I refer often. However the only referrals I get from local MTs are for specific foot problems (plantar fasciitis mostly). How would an MT respond to receiving such a letter in the mail I wonder?
I never have before, but I don't see why I wouldn't if I knew an excellent Reflexologist. I am pretty sure I could find a reason!
I am pretty big about referring to other healthcare practitioners. I may not be able to do it all the time or for every client, but I have found that having cards of others to refer to when "issues" come up makes plenty of sense and a happy client. If I can't do it, I WANT to provide referrals. Ortho, neuro, acu, dentist, PT, spa, mechanic, tattoo artist, good place to eat, --- you name it, I want to know the good ones and refer our people there. No reason to not know the area I am in and get to know more and more of it each day. A healthy network is great.
I'd welcome a letter from a reflexologist or two. I have the names of a few around, but have never had the real time to make appointments and sit down for a chat. It's on my to do list, but a few other things are still in front of that. (Isn't that how it always is?
) But, if they hopped up and did that small effort for me, I'd be singing! Otherwise, they'll be hearing from me in the next year probably.
To answer your other question: Probably most MT's will shrug it off, but you never know, there may be one or two out there who will be excited about this. If you even got a few referrals per year from one MT, it would have been worth the stamps.
