:mad2: Guys, a little tale of stupidity from someone who should know a lot better. I felt completely safe walking the streets of Patong, apart from this one incident. Lulled into a false sense of security I guess.
On my last night in Patong I thought it would be a nice romantic gesture to take the bg I had been with for the whole of my stay, a little cutie from Sharkey's Bar (there's something about those gingham skirts!!), for a moonlit stroll on the beach. Hand in hand we walked in the surf, kissing under the stars. The beach was deserted as no one seems to want to walk there after the big wave and it was only by chance that I noticed three guys come on to the beach, one walked toward us while the other two hung back. Immediately I sensed we were in trouble so I handed the girl my shoes and told her to move as I thought I was going to have to fight. The guy got to within 10 feet or so and I squared up, thinking 'oh shit, knife in the ribs time'. Luckily for me the girl had called to some women on the prom selling water and I think it was only the combination of this together with my size and the fact that the other two guys were someway off that prevented me from getting a 'shoeing' or worse.
The moral of the tale guys is Patong is a fantastic place and while in crowds very safe but don't leave your comman sense at home like I did!! Has anyone else had similar experiences? :bangin:
