They wanted to charge you 800 baht per drink each?? Sounds like a typical "rip off the tourist" mentality to me. I suppose as a tourist it's a bit hard to challenge these scams. You could try and question the reason why but by then it would have probably ruined the evening. Next time you go in let the mamasan or waitress or whatever that you know the pricing which is 190 baht per drink including LDs.

What bottle did you get at 4,500 baht? I've never bought a bottle in Patong before but in general a bottle of Chivas in Phuket is around 1,300 to 1,500 baht.

The stupid scam aside, how did you find the place?

I did get my back up about it with them and told them in Thai that I knew the drinks were around 190baht mark and if I had have known that they were going to charge us 800baht a drink each we would have not ordered a drink and left. Problem was by this time the drinks had arrived and some had been drunk already.

Total was 6,100baht for 8 drinks (not all alcohol). I managed to reach a compromise and get them to change it to a bottle for 4,500baht (first drink price) and the 8 drinks at 190 so the total was now 6,020baht and we had a bottle of vodka and mixers as well (It was only smirnoff vodka).. Still too much to pay but I was not going to push them too hard in-case we were set upon by shady types when we left. I was outraged, I was aware of the tout issue but didn't really see any tout follow us in .. but thinking back there was a Thai guy ahead of us with a couple of guys who went into the same place. We just don't have this problem in Bangkok or Pattaya so I was taken by surprise, not again let me assure you!!!

I took my mates visiting from Australia (7 of them) there for a look based on comments by BM's on this forum. So the Tout has SFA to do with us choosing the place, the forum should get the Tout's commission...

Before my friend mentioned to me there is really big text with "500B ENTRY" or "600B Entry" on the door when you walk in. So if you want free entry, you should work that out first.

Completely shitty, but they weren't ripping you off.

^ No entry fee when I went there in March, just had a girl latch onto me straight away and relatively expensive LDs. Take your mates to Suzie Wongs, far superior experience & value. I don't waste my time with Secrets or Body Nude/D-Club anymore.

Yeah definitely free entry, my mates got stung the night before at one of the Suzy Wong franchisees Xperience or something like that, and same deal 800baht each first drink .. We've been all around several times hehehe

Does not happen now as we have worked it out and the staff remember us from the previous nights etc. but it still really shits me what these Touts are doing.

Maybe there should be a Monger vigilante (ninja style hehe) group going around informing people just before they enter the bar that the nice bloke taking them there is ripping them of, not the bar but the Tout...

Best way of dealing with them is to keep your eyes open for them and turn them down etc. with a smile on your face. Don't call Thailand the Land of Smiles for nothing.

walked in and sat down, looked around but i didnt see any girl close to being a model. looked at drink prices, mate said "**** this, its shit!" and left.

Ahhhh.............SW 1&2 is touts free and we are doing happy hour 99 baht beers. just alittle correction.its not SW its exotica, before ordering they always show the menu with price. if the price is silly just dont order and leave. or do what hobssy do in exotica= "can I see jeffrey ".beers drop to around B99-B150 depending on brands."highly recommended phrase to use."only in exotica..:yipi:

I popped into Secret again last night and sorry guys the last group of pretty girls are all gone and what's there now don't really make the grade. I wouldn't say pass the place up completely as the girls are rotated every so often. Pop by and see if it changes. But as of now it's not that great.
