Now it seems that my mate cant get on the trip with me because of his work :grrrrrr::grrrrrr::grrrrrr: , And i already booked my flight, And going to book my stay at SBH, But im hestitating to go on the trip alone, No fun alone from what i experienced from my only and first visit to patong and thai in general (We were a group of 5), Any recommendation? Or a little bit encouragement on things i can do in patong alone? :X

You meet people over there thats the fun.

Totally agree, more freedom, and you will meet plenty of friendly people. I've done Patong solo 7 times now (I've actually only met 1 BM!) but all I have to do is walk down the road to meet plenty of people that will remember me, its like coming home.

Read all the advice you can on the Forum, it will be very valuable, and of course you don't need to be alone if you don't want to be, the fraternity is always available at MTB. I'm sure staying at the SBH will also help, I'm sure you'll meet and click with many like minded people.

Just make sure the ones you meet a decent people and if you are going it alone, whatch your back.

Yeah i hope do so, And i will ask nicke if he needs someone to work at the bar for free and get drinks instead of a salary, it would work nightlife with free drinks = almost happy vacation

Another vote for going it alone....I went to Phuket the first time alone, without the advaneforum.xxxe of reading advice on this board first, and had a great time. And since, I've been back several times, sometimes with friends, sometimes without. When I'm with friends, we tend to get broken up early on anyways due to girls.

I tend to often drink far beyond reason, and I've never had anything bad happen to me, but maybe I'm lucky. But let's say you're out and get pickpocketed and you lose a couple hundred dollars: absolute worst case, that will only happen once per trip (and it won't), that certainly wouldn't turn me off going.

ditto.. deff can happen, but i no I get pretty hammered to the point I dont remember much, and plenty I no living in Phuket and those that just go for Holidays are much the same...

Not heard of any of them been pick pocketed... murphys law though..

Stayed in Patong for 4 weeks, end of Jan 'til end of Feb this yesr and had a really great time! I really enjoyed getting to know locals, both Thai and expats, which is a little more dfficult when traveling with a group of friends IMO. Met alot of interesting people from drug dealers to wealthy financeers, oil rigg engineers to ex-blackwater types and of course all the lovely ladies and their friends! Took a short trip to the jungle which I enjoyed alot! Stayed in floating bungalows on a giant fresh water lake and trekked quite far into a good sized bat cave with snakes, an ocean of crickets and spiders the size of my hand! Looked at wild life from boats during the day and at night.

There's plenty to do, just let your imagination go and try stuff you haven't experienced before! Get a lady, a driver and take a tour of Phuket! As for safety, just behave in a respectful manner and you'll be fine. I was alone late at night quite a few times and didn't experience anything that I would define as threat to my safety.

Best way to do Patong is alone... I've done both.. alone and with mates... both are great.... alone is best! You make friends quick!

hey maaaaaan, believe me, i stayd 2 times alone in thailand, both time i spent some days in phuket, and i never had the problem to find something to do. i don't know you interest (except girls ) so i can't say "do this or do that", but there you can find everything you want: beautiful places, temples, beaches, snoreling, shopping, food, snooker clubs, go kart, shooting range, shopping malls, cinemas... you name it, you can find it

Just out of curiosity, why are people saying to be careful along Beach Rd. and the beach in particular? I've been along that road and the beach at 3, 4 or 5am heading back to the hotel. Never had any problems.

Being alone, I'd just say use common sense, and you'll be fine.

I always go to Patong alone. Never bothered asking anyone to go, as I know I would prefer to be holidaying alone such a place.

Theres plenty of like-minded and great people for you to hang out with if you don't have a shy personality.

Bored during the day time? Go have a massage without worrying about entertaining your friends.

Need company on a day trip? Ask your latest gf to accompany you. She'll (most likely) be able to provide more insight than your drinking buddies from back home. Plus, most of them are actually quite fun to be around.

And yes, like said above, don't drink yourself in the fence without anyone you trust enough to get you back to the loom safely.

Can you shed some light on what i should my back from? last year a mate while drunk and dancing on the pole at hollywood he broke the pole off, And guess what you have to options pay 7k baht or get beaten and pay 7k baht so we went with the non beating one , And lesson learned, what else i should watch out?

Common sense doesn't work against the creatures you meet on beach rd in the wee hours. If you're walking along beach rd at those times regularly and you've had no incidents, you're probably just lucky.

Go for it!! I just returned on a solo trip myself. I also stayed at the SBH. The hotel is in a perfect location. I came in plenty drunk on most nights and the night help at SBH always looked out for me. I found several people to hang out with that had my similar interests. Down in the lobby you can meet many people that will be willing to go out with you. MTB also is a good spot to find BMs that you can hit Bangla with. Just go and you won't regret it. I have only two regrets; don't let a lady hang around for more time than you want and if you want a lady, get her, she may not be there again for awhile.

Pretty good advice that bit.... I did precisely that mt first night in Patong, jumped on my girls bike... first corner and we are on the ground... pretty minor... but coulda been worse.. But she assured me that she was not drunk.. the motorbike was drunk
