slightly hijacking here, but....I have never called people back who don't leave messages. Its my cell phone and I see their number, but if someone called me back when I didn't leave a message I would consider it soliciting. So I'm glad to read this thread and know that maybe not everyone feels that way! But surely some must....so how do I know who to call back and who not to? Maybe I should just put on my voicemail "if you do not leave a message, you will not get a return call." hmph.

yeah, this is a funny thing. i don't ever call someone who hasn't left me a message. i hate that. i can not read your mind to know what you want so you better leave a message. i think it's rude to not leave a message and expect someone to call you back (personal calls not included in that). seriously, who does that? (in a business setting) i have enough trouble right now trying to be "everything" i can not add being a mind reader to the list! argh.

After reading various posts on this forum (maybe it was SeattleSunshine?), I now also return "missed calls" on my business (cell) phone. Many times it has turned into an appointment with a new client! (I'm still not busy enough to not need new clients ). When they answer, I usually say something like, "I'm sorry I just missed a call from this number, this is Heidi [last name], is there something I can help you with?" Several times the person has said something along the lines of, "I'm glad you called back. I hate talking to machines", etc. I'm sure that when I have a full schedule with a waiting list, I will NOT return these calls, but for now, it feels right to me.

I am still torn about doing this. Part of my brain says Do it, the other part says No, its rude. Plus what if people get use to it, you know... so they never leave a message?? Then what if the phone is off, my missed calls don't show. ???? IF IF IF. :

One other thought, Externships for Medical Assistants.

You may be able to call a school that trains medical assistants and needs a place for the student to complete their externship. I don't think you have to pay them anything and they complete their hours with you.

Granted, a massage office may not give them all of the items they need to graduate, but it may give them some of the items and maybe they can work in the massage practice at least part time.

Just a thought.

If anyone has more info or finds something out about that, maybe they could start a new thread.

well i just thought i'd post that i found out that the high schools no longer have a co-op program, due to budget cuts. so that's a bummer.
