So what is the deal with Shenzhen

Canadian, you should go directly to Shenzhen. If you want an area that is very cheap and easily accessible for foreigners, you need to go to Lo Wu district (downtown Shenzhen). I usually take the cheap bus to the KCR station then take the train to LoWu border.

It is as easy as travelling in Europe. You can probably have the trip of a lifetime (airfare included) for the same price it takes to bring a stripper home with you.

I normally stay at Jing Peng Hotel. It is a 3 star, they tried to upgrade to a 4 star by adding a traveling center plus a business center however can not get the 4th star because they do not have a swimming pool. It is about a 10 minute walk to Seibu and Dong min.

You probably pay around 260-300 per night depending on which floor you stay. I would recommend stay 11-16 floor but go and see if they are running any special prices.

Home inn hotels is a china chain of around 60 budget hotels 2 stars all over china. In shenzhen, this hotel is very near pink appartments, behind Shangri la hotel. The old name was Top Star hotel.
Which 3 stars hotel do you suggest in Shenzhen. I will be here for 10 days from september 7th.

Were you in a very small motel or in a star type hotel?

I think with a 3 star type hotel, the police will have to have some type of warrant. I don't think the police can just go into any hotel and search whenever they want but it might be different if it was a mom and pop type small motel.

Yes, it was hapened for me on june 22 th 2009 at 03:00am at home inn hotel.
The police has checked my room and 3 more rooms and fortunately the girl was leaving my room 1 hour before they visited me.
Next morning i was going to take inquiries by the hotel manager, and he said to me that 3 other rooms was controled to find protitutes but nobody was catched.

For those of you who want to save money going to Shenzhen from HKG airport,
1. As you come out into the arrival hall look for transport to the city. Go to the airport buses.
2. Take airport bus no. 43. 28 Hong kong Dollars. Have the exact change in coins or Octopus card.
3. Bus takes you to the the train station one station before Lowu. Takes approx 45 minutes. This is the last stop for the bus.
4. Get off the bus walk to the train station ,look for the sign which says train to Lowu.
5. Get ticket at the ticket window for 20 Hong Kong dollars.
6. The train takes you to Lowu station

Total cost is 48 Hong Kong dollars.
Beware that Lowu crossing closes at 12 midnight.

I have never heard of this at a 3 star + hotel. The 3 star hotel I stayed at is owned by both the police chief and a general in the army. They even built a police station right next to the hotel to make sure that there are never a problem.

I don't believe that the police can just go into a hotel and start checking all the room.

I have been going to China for the past 15 years and have never heard of this? Has anyone else heard of this?

This is why I always say to bring the girl back to your hotel room. You can take more time with the girl, have a nice shower and very little chance of the police coming to your room. It is only 50 rmb more.
