"Spicy Club" scams!

Hi, avoided the touts and walked into "Spicy Club" in Soi Sea Dragon the other day, thinking that I would pay the normal price for the drink and ordered an orange juice.
To my surprise they wanted 400 baht for the drink!:aww:
I thought if you walked in by yourself you would avoid to be overcharged and pay commission to the touts, but obviously not!:neutral:
Saw a sign reading that the second softdrink would be 120 baht I think!
I payed with a thousand baht note, but when I counted the change there was only 500 baht!?
I took a deeper look into the folder and discovered another 100 baht wrapped up into a small package and placed way down in one of the side pockets of the folder!
I guess they figured out that some tourists won't check their change, but if they did and complained the service guys would just fish up that other note and give them!

About the "Shows" just an ugly old ***** squeezing out some poor fish and some undescribable little furry animals from her neither regions!
Show didn't last more than 2 minutes max!
The rest of the GoGo dancers in there, where an ugly old bunch as well, just one younger average looking girl wearing a cowboy hat...guess she was the "Superstar" of the place!
A total ripoff, and I wasn't the only guest, at 21.30 the place was filled to the rim with unaware tourists picked up by the touts on Soi Bangla!
2 ugly dancers came and sat next to me and immediately preyed for drinks, and another girl came up with a bowl and asked for "tip for show", but they didn't score from me... I left the place!:dlb:
Walked up to "Crazy Girls" instead, very comfy lounge with lowlying sofas to relax in and view the much better looking and energetic GoGo dancers!
2 cute and friendly young ladies came after a while and sat down with me and kept me company for quite a while and they didn't even ask for LDs, and almost looked surprised when I finally asked them if they'd fancy a drink!:redface:

Just what is it, that you would expect the Tourist Police to do?
The touts don't seem to be doing anything illegal in Thailand. From what's posted up above, the price for a SECOND drink is 130 baht, and if the poor visitor doesn't argue the point, the price of the first drink will be 400 or 500 baht, which apparently the bar and tout split somehow. For no more effort than following a customer into the place, the additional profit from every drink is up to 370 baht.
My advice earlier was to ask the price of a drink, and if it's inflated, to simply leave. I never considered arguing with anyone as a good option, but obviously, from what's stated here, it was quite effective.
For such easy money, why would the touts (and probably some of the bar owners as well) want to see an end to this practice? It seems like more than enough people just pay the money, to make it very lucrative work - in fact, with so much easy money, you'd think that it's better work than driving a tuk-tuk or trying to sell stuff on the road.
The closest thing to a "band-aid" for this problem that I've seen, is reading about how the Tourist Police (and maybe others) are now trying to tell people to ask the price of a drink before placing the order.
I enjoy reading what 'gary09' did, but I don't think confrontations like that are the best answer. Educating people to simply walk out if the price is too high would be more effective as I see it.

What concerns me is that a BM owns this and other clubs and, apparently, is unconcerned about the bad practices.
Apparently, because he has not posted any replies to the criticisms, although that may be due to not having the time to read the forum.
That in itself is a concern as it means he does not have the time to consider the concerns of a group that may well make up a large perceneforum.xxxe of his client base.
At the present time, until and unless more positive comments are posted I will be giving all his establishments a miss.
Shame because I do like go go's.

Just curious - with all the discussions here about this kind of thing, why wouldn't you ask the price of the drink before ordering? That, or at least ask for a menu and point out what you wanted, once you saw the price?
Why give people a golden opportunity to rip you off, when one simple question ahead of time allows YOU to decide what to do?
I'm not trying to give you a hard time or anything, just wondering why people don't do "the obvious". Is it that you forgot, or that you assumed that since a tout didn't escort you in, you were safe from that kind of rip-off?

I do not wish to allow touts into the spicy by choice. they leach of the business if i didnt have them I wouldnt have 80% of my headacks.and alot more better long term customers.... I believe I have explain the problem regarding the touts on bangla on another tread.in the street and lack of support in ridding the problem, everyone likes to point the finger at someone but no one in the street is willing to stand side by side with me. and it is imposible for me to win a one man war aginst them. I know its easy to point at me as I owne the most and cause stand out.
as you say how one owner can have 2 so different bars? Uncontrolable situations, a deck of cards delt. remember this is thailand,sometings are not so easily change. they are 7 gogos on seadragon and 5 are tout bars(playschool, hs, bottoms up, spicy) only suzy and crazy are no touts allowed bar and soon maybe I try pull show girls back.
we only have lady service staff and they are in uniform wearing white top. I assume you were served by a guy if yes then its 100% a tout they might have clamed they brought you in when they followed you in. in any sense I am sorry you had a bad experience in the place and I wish I could make it like crazy (no touts). the only hope is when the new hotel gets build on seadragon, hoping the owner will kick some noise when his customer gets hit and put it to the end.
I make 125 to 150 on a beer even brought in by a tout they take all the differents its not a fair practice and its really unfair on the bar but with other gogos support how can i change that?
or maybe I should put a charge at the door.... and stop them comming in the bar itself will that help? will that look better.
I have always try to educate customers and tell them to come in themselves and becareful of the touts.
I am not a marketer or agreat business man just a very hard working guy that still sometimes look back and think how the hell I ended up doing this.

Although I'm new to Patong Bars I'm quite accustomed to the GoGos in Bangkok and Pattaya, and know the prices of the drinks in advance since several visits and just assumed since this scam has never happened to me there, that the prices would be similar here, it's still the same country!
I've visited Rockhard and Roxy just before went to Spicy Club, and no problems what so ever, both excellent examples of honest bars!
Only ever had this problem in "Spicy Club"!
I'ts no big deal,I just thought I'd highlight this Scambar so as to warn other newbies not to go there!

Don't listen to Thaicam as there is no confirmation that he has ever been to Thailand. Troll is the definition I believe.
