Hey, all.
First off, thanks for all the posts. I've been reading for awhile, but this is my first post.
Looking for some educated views on Zona Norte.
I've been to Chicago Club twice, both times a few years ago. Was really uncertain what the club was about at the time -- got laid both times, but should have approached that really cute girl, shouldn't I have?
Went down to TJ twice in December, both times limited myself to the street scene, for two reasons:
1. There were about a dozen, probably more, really cute and/or hot girls on the street, all offering $20 plus room (plus a little more for BJ, topless, etc.) I found I could go two 19-year-old hotties for $35, and watch some NFL/NHL at Caliente on Revolucion.
2. I'm really not much of a drinker. Sitting in a club drinking 3-4 beers isn't really my thing. And if I'm with a street girl, then hit a club, well, I'd like to wait 90 mins. or so before connecting again. Age, it is true, slows you down.
I haven't been to Adelitas, but everything I read and hear tells me I need to check it out. What about the other clubs? The barkers are insistent, but do any compare? Is Chicago Club what it was 5 years ago? What about the massage scene?
I'm definitely on somewhat of a budget, which makes the street scene that much more attractive, and I've never had any trouble with TJ's cops, but I'm respectful (of the girls, of the cops, of the populace). I figure that goes a long way.
[An aside: I've "mongered" in L.A. -- Hollywood, Beach Blvd. way back when -- in the Bay Area (esp. SF, of course), in Dallas (total car scene), in Paris, and in Amsterdam (greatest city on earth), and in Germany (nothing like a partytreff!). So I have some experience in these matters.]
I do enjoy coming to TJ for the soccer games at CREA, then hitting the Zona Norte, and as a soccer aficionado in SoCal, I certainly have connections with L.A./O.C.'s Mexicans that most locals do not. I've seen Chivas and America (and Cruz Azul and Morelia, etc.) at HDC and the Coliseum, and I figure as a native SoCalian, I am Mexican (although I carry no Mexican blood. So Cal is Northern Baja, for all intents, and culturally, I'm all for it. My espanol is muy poquito (but I'm actually taking a 5-unit Spanish class at a local JC this semester; living in the L.A. area, it's worth knowing Spanish; and in my field, knowing Spanish is a big plus.)
Anyway, there's a long-winded intro to myself. Any of your insight is welcome. Love the GFE, read what you have to say about it. As my Spanish improves (I know words, but sentences are hard, and it's easier to read than to hear), prospects I figure will improve.
One specific question. If I want to come down to TJ for, say, three days, enjoy the whole experience: see a soccer game at CREA, spend some time at Caliente, eat at real restaurants, see real culture (please: some tips? Museums? I'm an educated, cultured fellow!), do zona norte the right way, spend as much time but, again, on a budget, what do you recommend?
Thanks for all your insight.
