Chlamydia can only be caught by genital to genital contact..........

non transmittable from urinals or toilets....if your wife makes

inquiries from a health care professional, about most likely

routes of the transmission of this STD, then you are screwed,

and you will be opening up several cans of worms

Tell her you thought you might be gay and tried an "experiment". One time only and then you knew that you were not. But this was the only time. You looked up a guy in Now or something and had an encounter. Seriously - this could work. You were trying to find yourself. Then you make the offer to go seek counselling. How can she really be mad at you?

Either that or blame her for it. Can it lie dormant for a number of years? If so, then your home free. If she had it once, get yourself cured, then wait and see if she contracts it. If she gets tested regularily as you said, she'll find it soon enough. You then say that "hey, maybe I should get tested". You go, come back clean, all is good.

Usually when the tests come back negative they are not very eager to call. When the tests come back positive, they call back right away.

Give them a call. I have a feeling that they have good news for you.

Suggestions for the Hulkster:

Go to the Hassle Free Clinic, downtown Toronto.
They don't call themselves "Hassle Free" for nothing.

They know what they're doing. Professional and anonymous if you want.

Blood taken and initial stream urine sample replaces the good ol' swab method.
Call for results. 1 week to 10 days.

They test for all STDs. This is their major function.

They don't judge. They take your story at face value and calmly explain the how and whys of STD contraction and treatment.

As for the marriage: I feel for ya, buddy. Wait for results first before doing anything rash.

Always try to keep as positive an attitutude as you can. That is what the moral support from us all is for. And, as many of us have mentioned to you, it may be a good thing to change physicians, especially if you ar enot getting the info from your current one as you need it. They are only human and fallible, too. If your auto mechanic wasn't repairing your car well any more, would you still take it to him? (That was meant to be a rhetorical question.)

I'm surprised there aren't more posts like this. Herpes is transmitted by skin to skin contact- you don't have to slip it in. My buddy who goes to U of T med school had pics of a doc who got herpes on his finger from examining someone who had it.

...shoulda worn latex like the book says.

There were also some "gross out" pics of people who had the virus on their lips etc. (wonder how that got there...;-})

After realizing I had seen one of the MPA's my two bud's who were infected had seen, I freaked. First went to my doc, who told me the same thing (it would burn when I pee)...Not being satisfied I went to a no-hassle-clinic. 50% of men have NO SYMPTOMS. Many who have symptoms have very mild sensations and don't know they have it. It can also be caught in the throat.

Yes, the penis swab is not pleasant. The negative result is.

Hulkster, since you were one of my idols growing up, I'd like to offer this advice on the wife story -
1. get some literature on this as evidence that
(i) you can have this lying dormant, and
(ii) that your wife may still have this,

2. tell her Skylolo is in pain and that you've been reading about this and that you think you might just check this out with a Dr. D after reading those articles - show your wife evidence from par. 1 above

3. don't BLAME your wife for this, just tell her you did this because you are concerned for HER health as well as your own (Blame just gets the defences up and will get her suspicious)

Unless they also took blood and urine (you said they took the old penis swab) then they were just testing you for clymedia. If they took more samples they can tell you more. I think there are only 2-3 diesease that they can id from a swab (clymedia, gonn., syph). The rest are all blood born STIs (hiv, hepatitis, etc.).

Keep us posted but as others have said, unless you have heard back..then likely nothing...but give them a call dude.
