For the moment I'll confine my response to the OP question about restaurants.

If you're looking for a nice place then forget anywhere in the Zona Norte. The food is seldom better than average and none of the places have any ambiance.

If you want someplace nice that is fairly close then try the restaurant (owned by the Saverio family) on Ave. Revolucion in the Ceasar Hotel.

Here's are some upscale restaurants in the Zona Rio (not the Zona Norte) not too far from where you meet her:
Villa Saverios - Continental food; on balance one of the best in TJ.
Cien Anos - good upscale (alta) Mexican food and fairly romantic
La Diferencia - good Mexican food and fairly romantic
Rivioli in Hotel Lucerna - one of the more romantic places in TJ
Pampas - a Brazilian sytle steak house
Chan's Chinese - Chinese food; a favorite of former president Vicient Fox
Komasa - good Japanese cusine (including a good sushi bar)

I'm should warn you that many chicas are not comfortable in nice restaurants. Girls who are used to eating with tortillas (instead of silverware) usually feel very uncomfortable in an upscale place. Also if they come from a "humble" background they often have been made to feel people from their socioeconomic class are not welcome in the ""better places."

A couple of more modest places I recommend (especially if the above fits) are:
Tupios - traditional Mexican food; it's on 8th (next to San Borns) between Revo and Madero
La Vuelta - traditional Mexican food, it's where Revolucion turns into Agua Caliente

There are plenty of very fine restaurants in TJ and almost all are quite reasonable with their prices. One of my favorites is Los Pollouelos (sp?) which is just a couple of blocks from La Zona. It is not fancy looking but the food is great. On Articulo 123 (first street), walk toward the ocean (west) to Martinez and make a left. The restaurant is on the left side just before you hit Benito Juarez (second street).

If you are willing to take a taxi cab ride, a very classy place with dynamite food is the Casa de Mole. It is in la Zona Rio on Paseo de Los Heroes. This area, la Zona Rio, also has numerous night clubs, shopping, and movie establishments.

Just a suggestion: See if you can schedule a TLN (toda de noche) with her and then spend the first part of the night in la Zona Rio. The second part of the night (in the hotel) should be just fine!
