For all you DIYers out there please please P L E A S E learn how to do it right as opposed to what you think is right. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a place and seen DIYers using window casing for baseboard, baseboard for casing, T & G panels for door casing, non-mitred or coped corners, no caulking, no mortised hinges, etc etc etc and for all you electricians out there? DON'T.
For eg: when I moved into my place first thing I did was get rid of the old POS dishwasher and put my new one in. When I started to uninstall the existing one I found: the electrical junction was NOT in the box, the ground just loosely wrapped around one of the adjustable feet and the connections done with electrical tape and just lying on the floor.
BFD you might say but all it would have taken is one little leak (which diswashers are known to do) or a nice spill in front of it and the entire plumbing system would have been electrically charged. Know what that means? If mom had their 3 month old baby in her arms and went to wash her hands, by by baby.....
Ok, back to your regularly scheduled thread......
