anyone use this? does it work well?

i've not been a fan of tools, generally because they don't seem to give my hands a comfortable position to apply the tool. (knobbles & t-bars, etc)

this looks interesting though.

Wow that looks interesting......Kinda like a finger cot, but made of a stronger, seemingly stiffer material...but before I looked at the site I thought "Oh no, another massage tool where I won't be able to tell how much pressure I would be putting on my clients", but it looks interesting......Thanks For Sharing, but no I have never used these before.Sincerely,CaringHandsMss

I heard about the thumbsaver at a recent seminar. If it works well, who knows, I may even become a distributer.

I just glanced at their website. I've seen these advertised and I'm not sure that this would work for the following reasons.
First, the base joint of the thumb is a saddle joint. Very shallow contact. By stabalizing the distal end you may stress the thumb joint more. This is where most people develop arthritis.

Second, there seems to be no real support for the thumb's base attaching to the web-hypothenar area (?). My left one is totally sloppy after being injured in college water polo : I can shift it quite far in each direction.
Third, I have been using the Accuforce star and find it quite nice for a thumb substitute and most people-even other MTs-can't tell it's a tool.

It's vinyl and moves nice for point work, stripping, and ischemic compression. It works better now that I have a hi/low table to lower when I use the star. It's about three inches in length and it's much better to be able to drop the table that far. Also works great for self torture on your hand, forearms and other knotty bits.

I've heard good things about the acuforce star. I may have to try it myself. How long did it take you to get used to using it? Can you use in on thin tissue/scar tissue, such as surgical scars over bony areas where you might perform cross-fiber friction or cyriax?

Do you have any experience with the Acuforce 2.5?

I have one of these and am about to order another. They REALLY help me keep my thumb in the correct positon and helps me work longer with the deeper pressure on TPs. I really had a time getting used to using them since I found it difficult telling how much pressure I exert with it, but just kept asking my clients to tell me if I get too deep. They really help me when I am working 'knots' out of traps when they are in my chair. I just love mine. They are rigid, so dont be suprised when you get them. I expected them to be a type of support and not so hard, but with the pressure some of my clients ask for, I need them to be tough!

i love my accuforce star!! i use the blunt point and the scraper end the most. the triggerpoint end scares me because of the sharp point. i wish they sanded that part down. it just looks too painful. it works great on self massaging my cranky calves. i bought the 2.5, but haven't had a chance to watch the CD or test it on hubby. i'll do that on wednesday.

i have the thumbsaver and it sits on my shelf collecting dust. i'm not all that impressed with it. i found it to be awkward and hurt the base of my thumb.
