I think that is the most important observation - only if YOU want to and YOU have enough money and YOU realise that it's mostly pointless.

The amount asked for is an obvious scam but I guess if it had been smaller you would have sent it and not asked here.

A couple of years ago I used to have the same girl for a week at a time , for about 3 trips. She only asked if I could give her money to send home all at once. Dtang, sometimes also spelled dtung or tang(t without an h after it means pronounce as dt) means money and is derived from the word satang, which is a unit of money still used in some stores, like if you are buying vegetables or salad fixings by weight, fractions of a baht are still sometimes used.

There are 100 satangs in a Baht. Like pennies, satang have been made near obsolete by inflation. They don't have one, five or ten satangs anymore. I think that it is now just two coins, the 25 satang and the 50 satang, but I am not sure about that. They are very tiny and gold-colored. If you are in LOS for long, you will see them sooner or later.
