A first time offender is a LOT different than a wrongfully accused. A first time offender could be someone who was caught on video tape knifing his wife, 2 kids and the dog. In this case? Send him to the slaughterhouse.
For eg: if you get into a car accident and are found "at fault" and someone dies? That's one thing. If you video tape yourself raping and subsequantly murdering your sister in law, then off to the S house you go....
Basically, what they do now. The U.S.A. has prisons like SuperMax where they house the most dangerous of dangerous. They could tear that down and build a wall around an abandoned mining town. Toss in some of the worst and you're done.
That is, if you're not going to allow the death penalty.....(life imprisonment in an 8 x 6 cell with NO outside priviledges is far more inhumane than the death penalty IMO)
IMO Bernardo and Picton shouldn't be alive and I think it is ludicrous to spend millions of dollars keeping them alive.
