Do you have a copy of your birth certificate you could bring along with your driver's license? I have seen many, many folks simply waved through with this. Sometimes they are given a warning. I have never seen anyone taken to secondary.

I haven't crossed the border to Mexico in probably 25 years. I don't remember what we showed at that time, if anything, to get into Mexico.

Border crossings by land and arriving by air are 2 different animals. Working for an airline, especially after 9/11, ID was paramount. Canada and Mexico were different for awhile but passports were eventually required to get on the airplane. So yes.....I am serious.

I would suspect TJ would be different and maybe all you need is a nice smile to enter Mexico but I don't know and can only go by what I see written on the DHS website.

I was there last night for a little alley action after clubbing in San Diego. I forgot my passport, just had to go to secondary. Just asked a bunch of Q's trying to trip you up. Then sent me on my way. Alley was slow last night, AB wasnt crowded at all, more girls than mongers, HK was empty as well.

The main entrance to the hotel is on the alley. You will exit HK and walk a few feet along the alley to get to the Hotel Cascadas.

As for the passport requirement, the anecdotal evidence is that you do not need one and how much of a lecture you get will depend on the agent you talk to. However, if you are not an American citizen (you don't show a US flag with your profile) then the consequences could be much worse. If you tell them your real citizenship then you should have some documentation that shows you have the right to live in the US (visa, work permit, etc.) or else they do not have to let you enter even if you tell them you live in the US. If you lie and tell them you are a US citizen and for some reason they catch you (e.g. if something comes up when they enter your driver's license info) then you are breaking the law and could get into big trouble.

The no passport part worries me a little. Like the post below says you don't need a passport to enter Tijuana, nobody is going to check you. You just walk or drive right in. However, coming back to the US you are suppose to need a passport. But many of us see Americans still only using driver licenses, although they seemed to be questioned more. But at the end of the day since your American they are going to let you back in, so I would say don't let the fact you don't have a passport stop you, but if you have one....use it.

You can't get any closer to the action than " Hotel Cascadas" and they will let you take up at least one girl for free, and perhaps two? ( I forget?) And that includes the chicas in Hong Kong, Las Chavelas and those SGs nearby.( most "providers" usually use only their hotel near their club)

But those rooms are not the best, about one or two steps below a Motel 6, but nowhere near as bad as some of those SGs use. The beds springs are just about broken from all the fucking that goes on! So the beds are soft, but you get a TV, and most of the time the showers work well and you get hot water.

So if you don't mind the so-so room you should have a blast.

I'll let others tell you about the more upscale hotel that are in the area, and the price isn't much more, but they are away from the zona, either a long walk or a short taxi ride away.

You'll just get a stearn lecture from the border guard that a US driver's license is not sufficient to re-enter.

Out of my area. I worked for an airline and I know if you didn't have a passport, you didn't get on the airplane. Crossing by land used to be that you could just show a driver's license but I believe that's changed and you now need a passport to even enter Mexico so I wouldn't worry about getting back as you might not get in. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Like I said, I know I'm SUPPOSED to have a passport, but I'm asking what would happen if I don't have one (because I don't have one).

I've been lurking this site for months and I've got the general breakdown on how things work. All the questions I'm going to ask, you can trust that I've done extensive research on this site for. The reason I am still asking these questions is because I want to double check everything and make sure that the information is still relevant.

I'm going to take a trip to TJ around the end of June. I'll be travelling by myself, parking at the border, and walking across the border. I plan on staying at Hotel Cascadas (right above Hong Kong Bar).

I plan on pretty much spending all night drinking and talking to girls, taking one back to my room for about a half an hour to an hour, then passing out and going back home the next day.

Does this sound like a pretty solid plan? Also, is this hotel close to the Alley in case I want a few random chicks in between the hongkong pro? My budget is around $250 including everything. Does this sound like a reasonably realistic budget?

And last (but not least) is a passport 100% necessary to get back? I'm white, look white, and speak very little spanish. I also have several picture ID's (my drivers license, my college ID, and my american legion ID). Will these suffice? Now I know we're SUPPOSED to have a passport, but realistically, what would most likely happen?
