First post for me here...Im actually already in Phuket, was wondering when all the US guys are arriving? Surely this will mean a serious strain on the local resources and increase in prices??

Anyone know the duration of their stay?

In my experience you will hardly notice them at all.......................not like in the "good old days" when Bangla was swamped with loads of navy personell !!

You may notice small groups of smartly dressed very polite young men walking around or in the bars enjoying a quiet drink but that is all. In years gone by it was different when the night clubs were packed out with sailors letting their hair down but not anymore.

They don't all come ashore at once you know, that would be silly, there aren't enough tuk tuks.

The usa navy were in phuket in nov last year some of them stayed in my hotel they were a little loud at first but very well behaved !!!

I walked into the Subway on Rat U hit road and the staff were busy mopping the floor where a 40 oz Sprite had just landed.
3 guys were standing up, brushing themselves off of the liquid.
The loudest one said in a 'Tops' style voice, "I AM EXTREMELY SORRY MAAM, I AM TRULY SORRY TO HAVE INCONVENIENCED YOU GUYS IN ANY WAY......ITS JUST THIS MOTHERFCUKIN C@CKSUC#ER HERE, HE HIT MY ARM AND IT WENT ALL OVER THAT SONOFAB!TCH THAT WERE SITTIN THERE AND FCUKED UP MY GODDAMNED FCUKEN ATTIRE, THATS ALL !

And the Thai girl grinned and said, "Maow"!
