I’m a huge metal fan and go to many shows in the UK, and I thought RC was too loud. I think the decibel regulations must be different(ly enforced?) in Thailand. its damaging to the ears at that level and no venues in the UK i know of have their PA's that loud, no matter how 'heavy' the band is. i'm sure they are not legally allowed to have the shit up at that volume, at least for that (smallish) sized venue.
The jazz bar is fantastic, the best bar on the island in fact I think (for music anyway). Some really talented musicians, a very tight band.
I was very disappointed with the metallica cover band at RC, they literally only played the easy songs (slow to medium tempo with simple structures), nothing adventurous at all and pretty much the same set every single show. if I lived in phuket I would offer to replace their lead guitarist on the weekends, and play for free just for fun as I can play most of metallicas repertoire.
anyone know what kind of money those guys would be on per night? 150/200 baht?
