What are some good tours to do in and around bangkok?
Me and a friend are going to Thailand next November for 18 days and we want to experience a bit of everything while we're there.

Tours are a waste of time and money and your freedom, go out on Your own, unless You need someone to hold Your hand.

We really enjoyed the Damnoen Saduak floating market and a full day tour to Kanchanaburi, the Bridge over the river Kwai. You visit the museum, the war cemetery, boat up the river, and have a barbeque lunch. There's lots of temples, the Grand Palace, river tours etc. Shopping is good too.

18 days in November? You make me green with envy.

Do not miss Chiang Mai and an eco tour (trekking in the jungle for two or three days). When you go there, take a plane. Though expensive, it is more convenient than a 13 -14 hour bus or train ride (one way) and you can economise on time.

1. A bus trip to Ayutthaya see along the way temples and palaces while going up to the old city of Ayutthaya. Then a boat trip with buffet lunch back to Bangkok.

2. Dinner River Cruise along the River in the Evening with a band.

3. The Grand Palace

4. Wat Pho which is next to the Grande Palace.

5. Wat Arun - across the river from Wat Pho, short ferry trip across.

6. Rose Garden - Culture show.

7. Floating Market in Ratchaburi (where I live)

8. River Kwai Tour

9. Lady Boy show at the Asia Hotel.

10. Walking around Siam Square with supper at the Hard Rock Cafe

A bit of everything. Maybe a few days in Bangkok at the start of your trip. Then a train ride up to Chiang Mai for a while. While in Chiang Mai you can take tours, visit Chiang Rai Golden Triangle, Long Neck women villages, etc. Many tourists think that Northern Thailand more represents the real Thailand. Beaches might be another way to vary your visit to Thailand. Phuket is popular with women. If you are a little older also consider Hua Hin. A few days at the end of your trip again in Bangkok. This final stop will allow you to buy last minute souvenirs, be closer to the airport and maybe take in a tour or evening dinner cruise.

In Thailand you can get tours through local travel agencies. Find a tour in the morning and be on an evening tour or dinner cruise that same night. Many tours to choose from. A simple Google check will give you many of the "things to see and do" in Thailand, Pattaya, Chiang Mai or Phuket.

For Bangkok if you have a hotel near the Skytrain route you can use that rail service to get around the city. The Skytrain connects to the Airport Rail Link, the subway and with the Ekamai bus terminal.

If you are young maybe choose the Khao San Road area where other kids go. But no Skytrain in that area. There are cheap hotels and a few hostels in other areas of Bangkok such as Sukhumvit Road (Nana Skytrain) area. The Siam area is also popular but fewer cheap hotels than Sukhumvit.

A bicycle tour in Bangkok is very nice. There are several operatorts that organize it. Follow me tours offers the same as others, for a lower price and including a nice Barbeque. There are two tours, one through the jungle and the other in China Town.
