what happened at safari last night?

Cancun is a total tourist trap. There is not a piece of "real Mexico" left unless you venture into old-downtown. Not much chance of finding a local girl there because it seems the only true Mexicans are resort employees. And I love that Spanish look!! I probably only saw about 3 stunners (locals) the whole time. The farang talent at the resort was amazing though.

We ventured outside of Cancun a few times and that was the best part of the trip. Seeing how the Mexicans really live is so different than staying in Cancun.

The other big thing is that all the resorts there are all-inclusive. I'd say about 80% of the people we met did not even leave the resort. Drinks & food were all paid for, they had their pool & beach and couldn't be bothered to leave the resorts.

It was my second & probably last trip to Cancun. I think if I head back that way, I'll check out Cuba next.

Most of Cuba is all-inclusive. You can stay in private houses that are licensed by the Cuban government, but finding decent places to eat is difficult. If you do manage to get out and about the country away from the tourist traps, then it is an interesting adventure.

You don't get a ban for stating the obvious,Patong can be a dangerous place,just like 0000's of other towns in the world.

I wasnt (and would not) discussing any owner specifically just generalizations.. Guns as a normal part of society was normal here until recently.. More so than UK or Europeans my be used to.

Its not on the surface any more but it is not too far under it either.

yeah Robert, I got your humour/sarcasm. With all it's faults, the UK has got one thing right regarding gun control. There again it might be a cultural thing, as I don't know many people who would want to carry a gun.

Shotguns are allowed and even non-farmers can hold licences to own them. Following a massacre in Hungerford (1996?) the Gov. tightened up on gun ownership and stoarage.

Having said that, criminals seem to be carrying more weapons.
