What happened today?

I always thought the majority of BKK places have always shut earlier generally than Patts or Patong? been to several clubs that stayed open later but just as a general rule?

I'm also of the school now that prefers the earlier closing times, cannot see one good argument for why I was always out until 6am and sun up, sleeping most of the following day. If they kept this rule it would beneficial to the bar owners, getting back a some what normal existence and go out earlier, go home earlier and see some of the following day.

Changing an hour is something most are accustomed to.
It is called daylight-savings-time.
Never a problem.
Add another hour and you have 8PM to 2AM vs 10PM to 4AM.

Ye agreed most bars and ago gos close 2am with the exception of Hillary 2 Nana and a few other pool bars such as Sanook bar soi 7. Tourist orientated nighclubs/discos 6am & thats the most affected area now closed at 2am and no one really going. Still have all the street bars stretching from soi 3 to soi 21 open to 6-7am

Yep, everything is closing. They turned on the lights in Hollywood and started shuffling people out the other day a little after 2am.

nah,even when i was in phuket i use to like an afternoon beer and go home around 9ish most of the time. early morning finishes and hangovers the next day is something i got really bored with..

before that back home knock off work and a few in the arvo and to bed early work the next day.

guess it`s just an old habit that feels comfortable for me.

one of the things i like about pats is the arvo start up of the bars and a gogo`s,although haven`t been there for 3 1/2 years now!

As Dodger says, it will blow over in the next few days (Week or so) They always seem to do this every so often, (Close early) There are plenty of threads on here about closing over the years, just give it a while and normal service will resume.

I heard a rumour that the new police chief use to run the show in Pattaya and is here to clean up Patong... to the tune of increased tea money from what it was previous... closures should go on for at least another 3 weeks... and may go on to the end of high season if the bars don't break and pay up. He put on a big show of force earlier this week and I swear he must of had every copper from Phuket town on Bangla in their new special forces trucks.

However if you're still looking to get a drink at the end of the night there are a few places (hotel lobby bars) on Soi Sansabai that well serve past 2 am. Might take a few moments to convince the night staff that they can serve your drink in a coffee cup and you might want to sweeten the deal by buying a couple rounds for the staff but it can be done... Beware though, I think the fine is 3000 baht and trip to the police station (if the thai person is caught serving).

Bangla was filled with the ladies leaving the discos looking for a date. I guess you could just hangout outside Tiger or Hollywood and pluck as them come out.

I thought I read on FB that IBar and Insomnia closed early this past day. I am not concerned about the close times as I rarely am out very late. I am up early and drinking early usually when on holiday.
