I am actually a reiki practitioner myself. I frequently integrate massage therapy and reiki together in the same session. This is particularly good for mental stress and for clients who suffer from severe lack of touch. You can find my reiki page at http://home.att.net/~jnozum/Reiki.htm . Some people who are uncomfortable with massage seem to do fine with reiki, since there is no actual movement of hands on the body during reiki. Unlike massage therapy, the therapist's hands are held in one position often for 3-5 minutes at a time. I found from my own personal research that it is not necessary to be "certified" or "initiated" in reiki to have some benefit. However, this initiation workshop will help you become more effective. I so have a word of warning regarding reiki: BE SURE you are with God, for He is the one from whom this energy really comes from! Stay away from the "new age" crap. I would be leary of a reiki practioner that is not also a Christian. A reiki practioner that is not a Christian may possibly be a snare for the client! From John Nozum
