Where do you buy screens?

Hiya

I need to buy a screen that I can put in front of my massage couch when I am doing pamper evenings, or taster evenings. Ikea used to have a nice one but no longer do..

Does anyone know of where I can buy them. I need my first one for next Thursday!!

My first thought was for someone like Ellisons or Physique, but neither have them listed in their catalogue. Another good place to try is Garden centres that sell conservatory furniture!! Our local one has lots of lovely screens in different styles - again, they are no cheap but look nicer than the medical style ones. Just a bit of a pain carting them round with you. Schools and the like normally have some sort of free standing boards that you could borrow and drape with a sheet if nothing else is available.

I am doing a slimming club next week, they are having a food tasting night and me and two friends doing therapies, so thought it would be nice to have one for then. This way I can do proper back massages and not just shoulder rubs, which really the Indian Head Massage therapist will be doing.

I will have a look at local garden centres tomorrow and check out Mat's website address..

One thing I have found about doing taster sessions is that if you do a back massage and fix all their knotted muscles etc. they don't seem to come back. A taster is what it says it is............just a taste of what is to come. If you see what I mean. I find it is much better to just do a hand and arm massage (using oils if you are a aromatherapist) My usual thing is to do Reflexology sessions.

I started off using a screen but found that it was an advantage for everyone to see what I was doing.

If the pamper evenings are women only, I find that people don't have a problem taking their tops of, especially if you are nifty with a towel. The only shy ones are the teenagers, strangely enough.

I also agree it is good to be seen, so that others passing by can look longingly at the person on the couch and wish it was them!

Thanks for that. I am really bad, I love doing back massages, I always like to feel I can really get in there.

Do you not think that if you ease their muscles that is a great advertisment, because once they ache again they will think about you!

I suppose it would help to know what other people are doing, if there are other massage therapists doing backs, I suppose it would be better for me to do something else, or else we will all be offering the same.

Just go with your instincts at the end of the day. What works for one won't work for another.........this is just my experience!!!

I can remember doing 9 back massages one evening at a pamper party and everyone was raving about them, how much better they felt, how relaxed, etc etc and not one of them EVER re-booked. These were 20 minute sessions which was enough to 'fix' them........perhaps offer smaller 'mini' sessions instead just to wet their appetites.

One thing to remember is (although you have probably already thought of this) is to make a very small consultation form.......mine are A5..........just asking for their name and address, whether they have any serious injuries/complaints and signature. You can then use this information for your database.
