Patong swept away, some nice luxury developpers and attrackting tourists with a lot of money!

Phuket is full, they want to build more condoms, so if all the bars are gone, there will be a new playground!

Yesterday 3 little friends came round in the afternoon after visiting the demo.. They were all in high spirits as they had already picked up farangs for that night (they are all pretty fine) by the afternoon and were going home to freshen up.

I think there is a feeling of enjoying the unusual (for those getting customers) but last night outside MacDonalds it was tables and tables of BG's all hunting.. For the better looking girls or the more confident / english speaking girls who will score anyway its a bit of fun, for those that may be less able to get 'lucky' it will probably wear thin. The better looking girls are used to being sole agents and freelanding more where the less confident and less experienced may like the security of having a bar base.

How they all feel in 3 or 5 days when it is no longer unusual and a joke / laugh is hard to tell.

The official closing time is 02 now but we closed 03 today, big improvement compared to before.

Thanks for the reply, LivinLOS. I think the atmosphere in a bar environment is certainly nicer for me since it allows me to get to know the girls better before deciding on any further activities. I supposed it’s more conventional than picking up a girl off the street even though technically it’s all the same. It’s interesting that the girls would be hanging out outside McD, for some reason I expected them to be around the Ocean shopping center opposite the Pizza Company.

They were not just outside Micky D's... In fact they were everywhere... I just mentioned that as one place where every seat was occupied..

Its amazing howmany there are when all bars and disco's are emptied onto the streets.

A few years ago , Hotels started to ask "Lady charge" , some people said it was to have just "clean people" :angry: comes to visit Patong.
its not enough so next step is to close discos and bars maybe they just want family people go there :sad:

Sure , i will come 1st november and planned to go Patong first , but as it goes now i think i ll go directly to pattaya .

I know one bar down by Sailor Bar / Moon Bar etc on Beach Rd tried to break the strike today... A Girl I am close with just finished work and she works about 100m from there.. Said a lot of people came round and gave them strife.. Looked ugly for a bit and then they closed up.

PATONG: Entertainment venues in Patong and Kata-Karon this evening won an interim "unofficial” reprieve from the Governor, who has said they may stay open until 2 am.

In return, they have agreed to call off their protest at the football field on Thaweewong Rd.

After meeting with Phuket Governor Udomsak Usawarangkura early this evening, Sompetch Moosophon, President of the Patong Entertainment Business Association (PEBA), told the Gazette that entertainment venues in Patong are now "unofficially” allowed to stay open until 2 am.

He said that Gov Udomsak had asked for the protest at the football field on Thaweewong Rd to disband, and for entertainment venue owners to wait "one or two weeks” for the Cabinet to come to a decision on the matter.

"The Governor has asked the Cabinet to extend the closing time to 3 am, which I believe they will approve,” he said.

"But that’s not enough. It’s not what we want; we need [to trade until] 4 am.”

PEBA Secretary Pratheep Rerksomroj told the Gazette, "The Governor seemed to be very worried about the situation in Narathiwat, and concerned that the protest [in Patong] might give the impression of violence. He asked us to stop [the protest] because it might affect tourism, and we accepted that.

"We will open tonight as usual,” he added.

The reprieve applies only to venues in the entertainment zones in Patong and Kata-Karon.

Sorry i just see the answer was posted during i was posting , but just as it seems to be curious to extend closure time in Phuket while they apply the 1.00am law in Bkk and also in Pattaya

It was a crazy night, I got talked into wearing my Farang MTB shirt so I stood out like the proverbial! Ended up staying till 11:30 which is when my western ass could take that dirt ground no more, no matter how much Mee Khong was administered as a pain killer. The live music was prettu cool, especially the interesting rendition of AC/DC's Highway to Hell by a very enthusiastic thai band
