Japanese police deport 51
human-trafficking victims


TOKYO: Japanese authorities have so far this year discovered and deported 51 human-trafficking victims who were smuggled into the country to work in the sex and entertainment industries, the police said Thursday.

The number of victims was three times the tally in the first six months of 2004, according to the National Police Agency report.

The victims, including one transsexual, were sent back to their home countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Romania, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and Estonia, the report said.

While in Japan, they were forced into activities ranging from prostitution to working in hostess clubs where servers wear lingerie, the report said. The police arrested 29 other people on human-trafficking charges in the first half of 2005, up from 24 in 2004.

The Switzerland-based International Organization for Migration estimates that as many as 150,000 trafficking victims could be working in Japan’s sex industry. Activists say many women who voluntarily but illegally enter Japan are saddled with exorbitant debts to their traffickers who enslave them to repay their travel fees.

The government has come under heavy international and domestic pressure to clamp down on human trafficking.

On Wednesday, a top UN antitrafficking official urged Japan to do more to combat the problem.

Sigma Huda, UN special reporter on trafficking, said a law enacted in June that made trafficking people into Japan a criminal offense was only a first step. The new law, which took effect Tuesday, was introduced after the US State Department added Japan on a list of countries too lax on human trafficking.

I lived in Tokyo for two years working as an English teacher.In my experience bars and clubs offer poor value in Japan for picking up jgirls.Drink prices are too high and every bar too small with not enough prospects in each.Worst of all most clubs charge a 3000 yen cover charge with no passouts,so if you go outside you can't get in again without paying.Roppongi clubs usually have no cover charge but Roppongi is no good for middle aged chaps such as myself,too much competition from Gaijin 20 years my junior.If under 35 with poor Japanese language skills head to Roppongi.If your Japanese is good dont go to Roppongi but to a club frequented by Japanese.Because of the 3000 yen covercharge which few Gaijin are willing to pay you will probably be the only gaijin in the club,but your Japanese must be good as few Japanese girls in these clubs speak English,the English speakers typically go to Roppongi or other bars where gaijin gather.Bars are ok if under 35 but if over 35 there are better options.I did a lot better chatting up jgirls on the street in busy areas such as Shibuya and Shinjuku.Starbucks and shopping centres were good.The tokyo metropolis classifieds are certainly worthwhile and I did very well with plenty of replies although none under 30 unfortunately.With the price of restaurants,bars and movies in Japan I found it often more cost effective to pay for play.The tower in Shibuya when I lived there last year offered 3 bbbj in 30 minutes with 2 different girls,also you could drink 3 stubbies of beer in the half an hour all for 6000 yen!!!!! and this in a country where a stubby in a pub costs 800- 1000 yen.Koganecho was also good value at 10000 yen for 20 to 30 minutes,the girls were almost all very beautiful especially the Columbians,the Thai girls generally let you come twice per session.To find the tower in Shibuya first find the Java coffee shop not far from Shibuya station,stand outside and look like you are looking for something.Soon a Japanese chap will come with a sign in English saying blowjob 6000 yen,go with him to the tower,you dont have a choice of girls but all are very kawaii.I havent been to Japan since October 2004 so the tower and Koganecho may now be closed.Dont be shy about suggesting a new and profitable way to make money to the 20 year old girl you are chatting up in Starbucks.I have got a few like this particularly in Shibuya by offering 20 000 yen for the night,young Jgirls are typically in low paid waitressing jobs earning 800 yen per hour.

Another update - 911 is good but rowdy. Muse is the bomb. So many women ... Slightly more sophisticated than in Roppongi. Easy to talk to people. Later in the evening (say after 02:30) things get even easier as a result of the alcohol and girls feeling eager not to be left out ;-) Has anyone been to Maimon? I always see nice girls there too. I would recommend the friends party to anyone who is less confident or who doesn't like bars. It is one big dating agency. I went a second time last week but won't return; Muse and places like Heartland mentioned above are my scene now. But as a way to get you started with a bunch of phone numbers the 'friends' party can't be beat. However, many girls are of the more shy type and are definitely not the same crowd as what you'll find at clubs.

As I've said in other posts, 911 is dodgy as are most of the clubs on that side of the street. My recommendation is Heartland at Roppongi Hills, especially late at night. Find someone you like, then go up and introduce yourself. If that doesn't work, try again. I've never left this bar disappointed.

Well well, thanks for that 911 tip! This is a wild place and yes you have to be pretty ugly not to find someone there. I was being picky so ended up alone but had a great time. This was actually the place I visited last year on my one-day stopover (and got lucky) without knowing the name so I am very happy to have found it back.

The language massageplanete was not very busy with only 4 girls, 3 of whom left when I arrived, but I was a bit late (10:00 PM) so earlier on it could be better. Friendly place though.

Tonight I'll try to Muse (found it!).
