Hi all . . .

I have mentioned in earlier posts that I have some aversions to the raising of BF's. The subject of Bell Ringing comes into this equation quite nicely.

When I am drinking in a Bar, and playing connect 4, or something similar, it is usually with a lady that I am interested in spending some more time with, after closing time. I have no objection at all to buying her a Lady Drink, when I am due to buy another one for myself.

What I do get p**ed-off with is a procession of the lady's girlfriends, who have no compunction in asking for a drink, even before I have been introduced to them! At the end of the night, I have usually contributed a considerable amount in commission (in Lady Drinks) to the lady I am with, before paying the Bar Fine (commission again), and negotiating the nights activities back at the Hotel.

In April, I often spent the latter part of each night at the Love Bar. On at least two occasions, the Bell was rung by some generous character, (some I knew, and some I had not met). I witnessed patrons coming over from the adjacent Bar, and partaking in the free Shooters, when they had no knowledge of who was shouting the drinks, or had contributed absolutely nothing to the turn-over of the Lover Bar!

I main objective is to make sure I pay my way. This means, with people I have actually met, and have enjoyed their company.

I am not wealthy enough to recklessly Ring The Bell, not knowing half of the people I am paying for, especially when stragglers from the Bar next door want to get involved.

The whole ladydrink system spoils the scene I think.
In a nameless bangla bar I sat, and was approached by a bg. I made it clear I was not looking for action, but she insisted on a few games of connect 4 so I obliged. Ready to leave, I slipped her a few baht for her time (more than she would have got from a ladydrink), and then as I left another bar girl said accusingly `why you no buy her ladydrink`.
So then I caught myself defending myself, saying I had given her money already. Then I thought, WTF, I have just given her a tip even after making clear I was not interested in action, and I`m made to look as as I`ve done something wrong.
I go to bars to have a good time, relaxed time. I never went back to that bar again. I will not go to bars where I get hassled for ladydrinks. Before anyone comes out with that cheap charlie crap, its not the small amount of money that counts its the attitude and the atmosphere it creates. I don`t go out for hassle.
And having said all that, it`s a minor blemish on a wonderful place, I think patong is great.
