Yes, and I suppose that it is in the "nature" of dogs to fight as well. Does that mean that you don't have a problem with organized dog fights, as long as they are not fights to the death?

I am all in favor of being respectful of local culture and customs, etc., etc., but there does come a time when you have to make a decision about whether a particular "custom" crosses the line as to what is acceptable civilized behavior. :wai: And, yes, I am being judgmental. :yes:

Yes it's in the nature of dogs to fight. But the normal way for dogs is to fight until they find a leader. Then problem solved. Dogfights are different.
The chickens don't seem to have that kind of rules. A chicken that get badly beaten one day will be more than willing to start a new fight with the champion the next day. This works the same for the "food/egg" chickens that walks around everywhere.
I think also "no brain, no pain" works well for chickens:happy::happy:

Not saying chickenfights are my favorite activity, but sometimes I take my customers there for a look.........

Actually they are selling high quality elk/moose back home with the story behind the hunting. Where it was shot, how long they've been chasing it etc......
Don't know if the stories are true or not, but it for sure seem to help making more money out of it:wink2:

When I was last in the UK they were trying to ban fishing, coarse river fishing as barbaric, poor little fish pulled out the river by their mouth all in the name of sport.

This conversation goes in degrees, we all have levels we accept but I feel we must never just jump up and down saying all of this or that is wrong and should be banned. Especially if we have never been to the event or seen it live. That type of ignorant comment annoys me a lot, lets ban it cos I think it must be bad, heh the guy with the purple hair he'll join in, he joins in chants ban it to everything!!

Sefton makes a very good point, Bull fighting, he named three different types of event, from blood letting to just pushing, is getting two bulls to push against each other okay?, who makes that judgement?

We have already expanded a request for info on chicken fighting to slaughter houses and farm conditions, once you open the gate the minds soon wander and everything should be banned, you can make an argument on anything. And what are we really doing? we are applying human feelings, thoughts and reactions to other animals, what do the chickens think about all this? do you really know? whats their pain threshold? level of thought? intelligence?

What about if its just natural actions, two cocks fight to see which is dominant, its wrong because we seforum.xxxe it? we force them or by natural choice? should we be out in the jungle right now stopping fights for dominance by all animals? we put them in reserves together or zoos, but we are not betting on them so its okay? always two sides to these thing.

Anyway, too much written and I don't go nor give two hoots who does or does not.

Organised and also one off random c0ck fighting in Lala weekly. No I haven't been as it does not interest me, but equally I would not go off on one about it. What I have seen is the ring, which is like a small paddling pool affair, single male chickens in bamboo upturned cages eyeing each other before the event that evening. No I haven't seen them with spurs on, and no they do not seem to die or get maimed as they appear to be wandering around the following day. So perhaps its the same as Geir described and its the first chicken jumping out, running away looses, dunno. So because I do not know, nor have been, I will not be jumping up and down strongly saying something should be banned, when I do not know what does actually happen at the event.

Surely watching any animal... or any person fight... unless the assigned fighters have chosen to fight of their own freewill... makes that person as insane as the cruel buggers who set the fight up?
