Yes, there is an arrest warrant out for Putin by the ICC (International Criminal Court). The ICC is in The Hague. The ICC does not have a police force so they are reliant on other countries to adhere to International Law and arrest Putin if he ever steps foot on their soil. He won’t turn himself in, a new leader in Russia might turn him over if that ever happened. It’s largely symbolic and puts pressures on those doing business with him. Putin was supposed to travel to India and South Africa but that might not happen now.

There is nothing Trump can do.


These are the countries that are party to the ICC. The ICC’s purpose is to focus on war crimes and crimes against humanity. So, South Africa would be obligated to arrest Putin if he went there.. India would not but would face international backlash for having him. The next G20 meeting is in India so India would be under pressure to either uninvite Putin or suggest he doesn’t go.

Trump had imposed sanctions to target firms building Nord Stream 2. The pipeline was considered a security risk to Europe, as Russia could control the gas supply to Germany and the rest of Europe.

Dopey @Hornet thinks Germany wanted the pipeline, but last year Germany halted the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in light of Russia’s incursion into Ukraine.

So let’s recap. During Trump’s administration Putin did not invade Ukraine. Months into Biden’s administration, Russian sanctions were dropped and Russia invaded Ukraine. Coincidence?

The hilarious thing is, many are saying the recent Nord Stream 2 pipeline explosion was caused by the US. If there’s any truth to that, it means Biden (or the people who control him) realized how important it is to stop Russian control of Europe’s gas. Something we all knew.
