Do you have trouble reading? The APA ethical guidelines are currently still in effect. They have not changed, despite what Bandy X Lee says.

People can make up their own minds about whether doctors should diagnose patients they've never seen before and whether or not the doctors who created the APA guidelines were erroneous and misguided to do so.

What's totally clear is that your claim that Trump is a "medically diagnosed psychopath" is actually based on opinions you've read in the media made by doctors who have never examined him.

Of course I totally get why they are concerned. The same reason that 81 million concerned people voted Trump out.

The APA created the DSM that is used to diagnose psychopathy in the first place. Can you grasp why the APA believes doctors who diagnose patients they have never seen are unethical?

I think it’s pretty safe to say Trump has obliterated all kinds of ethics and norms during his time in office. The APA has been around since 1844, but it appears you feel they are some type of appendage of the Trump administration?

Certainly one ethic the Goldwater rule clearly was designed to achieve long before Trump ever showed up on the scene was the apolitical application of psychiatry. But clearly just like Trump you feel as long as your enemy is terrible enough, then the ends justify any means.

And so we differ on this. But again what’s a simple fact is that from your perspective all that’s required for a medical diagnosis of psychopathy is for any doctor who has never met the patient to go in the media and say it’s so. That is precisely why the Goldwater rule exists.
