I'm sure everyone read what Simon said about the costs. I did, but it sounds like it's just a matter of finances. It would be a bigger problem if the Airport Authority refused to allow such a thing to happen.

If enough people believe this would be a good thing to do, there might be ways to cover the expense involved. Sell the space on the back-side for advertising, and you might have a waiting list of places willing to sponsor your idea. Get the right people in the government involved, and maybe that's another way. I'm too tired right now to think all this out, but with all the people here who feel something should be done, maybe someone will come up with a suggestion that works.

Pity Simon43 and the like cannot enforce the law - it is in fact illegal to tout or hand out any sort of flyer in public street - there is a licence for this as C&D had to get one for the 'tall ladies' to stand at the entrance of (Un)Happy Road.

Follow the money flow and its not difficult to see why the touts are able to pester noobs - remember they are not really there for expats/regular visitors - a noob will spend possibly 10x what a penny pinching expat will!

As you seem to be either pretending to be as dense as rock or ???

Raw is the owner of some businesses on SeaDragon.. He is one of the few business that (in some of his bars) doesnt pay them.. Hes had death threats, car vandalized, threats on his family, as well as them diverting people away from his businesses and actively making business in that location difficult and dangerous.. This is those nice miss understood 'real' people you keep supporting in discussion yet seem to know nothing about.

The very idea that a bunch of drug dealing, extorting, thugs are going to call the police about being given a backhander is so laughable I dont know what to say. The touts are an organized system of protection racket backed up with violence and trouble for customers and bar owners alike. If all the owners took a stand at once, and none then undercut the rest by taking the trade, maybe you could get rid of them, but getting that kind of solidarity among diverse bars, with different benefits for each owner is nigh on impossible.

As LIL rightly said, you need to read the previous thread on the subject. The touts are not recruited by the bars, they are parasites that have imposed themselves upon the bars. Bar owners that have tried to resist have met with harassment of varying severity.

I wonder what our wonderful volunteer tourist `police` are doing to address the issue?

4 of us got the full-on tout treatment a couple of nights ago. We turned into Seadragon heading for the first gogo on the left. Tout latches on to us and does the usual pussy show spiel bla bla bla. I stopped and politely told him that we live here and to go away. He backed off but cheeky sod shouted to one of his compatriots ahead of us who took over walking in front of us. We try waving him away but now we are at the door. So 4 of us and 3 of THEM...they're waving their cards at us and trying to get us to go in.

So we're telling them we know what they are doing and we're not going to pay their prices. One of our group pulls out his mobile saying he is going to call Jeffrey loudly enough for the touts to hear and starts faking a call to him. They back off and we go inside but turned straight round and came back out because it was packed with nowhere to sit!!...and we ended up going to SW.

Yea it’s not the touts on Bangla road that are the problem…. it’s the ones standing in front of the doors to these establishments waving unsuspecting customers in. It’s out of control on Sea Dragon these days as they have moved from the street to the Soi.

Pity you didn't read this thread first eh! Why beware Spicy GoGo? You didn't get "slugged" by the gogo...you got hit by the touts. They make up their own prices. The gogo just got whatever the regular price is for the drinks. The tout pocketed the difference.
