hmmmm. Maybe "the going rate" is a figure that helps to sooth the consciences of those who feel guilty about P$P or perhaps it is used by those who confuse P$P with a normal relationship and so try to justify their own delusions.
I personally dont feel the slightest bit guilty about P$P, in fact I totally embrace the concept of no committment, (apart from financial) consensual sex between 2 or more partners and plan to get as much of it in my lifetime as I can and at rates at which I feel comfortable with, both financially and morally. What are those rates? None of anyone elses business.
It is interesting that it has only been since the rise and popularity of the internet and that the dissemination of information on forums like this that the subject of "the going rate" has become so contraversial. In the early 1980's in LOS the "scene" wasnt a lot diffferent to the one that is here now in terms of the bars and the girls BUT there were no mobile phones, no sponsers, no internet, no email and very very basic international phone facilities. This made for a much "cleaner" P$P experience as it really was a "fly in, have a great time, fly out and forget about it until the next visit". There was none of this "continuation of the experience" that the rise of the internet and better communications have also brought about. IMHO opinion too many guys now come to LOS, run amuk and then leave but are still "hooked" on the experience and continue to live it through better modern communications instead of getting on with their lives and forgetting about the place until their next visit is due.
Sure the market forces of supply and demand as in everything tended to set a "going rate" but it was certainly a lot more down to the individual bargaining power between the Monger and the BG.
My mongering is not just confined to LOS, I tend to get about the world a bit and do indulge in most places I visit. In fact I really think I would be completely out of the mongering world now if the only opportunity to partake was in LOS. LOS is a good place for mongering , make no mistake, but it is now really the Mc Donalds of the mongering world now. It is really in the great majority of cases most peoples first experience of a large scale P$P enviroment and sadly for some it is also their only one. For me it is now too easy and at times it feels like another run of "Groundhog Day" and these days I find myself more and more trying to find things to do or learn that I havent experienced before. I still get to LOS at least 4 or 5 times a year for business and do indulge on every occaision. If you really want to see what the P$P scene was like 30 years ago then just look at a map and find a country close by that has very limited communications, relatively low levels of inexperienced mongers visiting, no internet forums espousing its virtues and costs and head there. It is so refreshing.
So in summary; like opinions , how much someone pays for P$P is a purely individual thing and if as an individual you believe unquestioningly what the mass propaganda tells you is the "right" amount then sadly you are just another slave in the arena of public opinion and deserve to live your life accordingly.
