Well, it was like this - A little over a year ago, I made my first trip to Thailand and basically had a really good time. I had just quit a frustrating job that paid really well, but....I was not happy and I had always wanted to try Thailand as I have traveled, lived and worked all over the world and in parts of Alabama.
So, after Thailand and Spain, I joined DIA (Date in Asia) to try and meet some nice Thai party girls, as I planned to return about Christmas. But, while on DIA, a couple of Chinese girls/women contacted me, so I started spending more time on China girls than Thai girls, though I did meet one nice gal and one lunatic from BKK.
Anyway, I really got to communicating with three different China girls, IM's, video chat, etc.. One in particular spoke very good English (English teacher here and now my wife) and another was really cute, but had a kid and seemed to be looking for a city-guy and ATM, and the other, quite interesting gal that had worked for a Chinese manufacturer in Jordan for a couple of years - she, also, had good English and was very nice looking. Anyway, I found myself talking more and more with the one gal, instead of the other two, and by December had decided not to visit Thailand again, but chose China. Took a few weeks to get visa, then plane ticket and came here in February to meet her. We got along very well, did some traveling, met her family, watched the Saints win the Super Bowl, just had a very good time.
Anyway, when I went back home I had to decide - go to work in my normal mode or try to make a go of it in China, so I chose China - really I had plans to teach school here, but the school reneged on the salary and I am not one much for BS, so I said 'fuck off'. I returned in May and around the middle of June, we decided to get married, which was very informal, mostly a paperwork affair.
So, that is my story. I am 54 years old, had never been married with no kids. My wife is 34, never married, no kids. We get along pretty good, have a nice apartment, she began teaching yesterday, her family is huge and very nice to me - never asking for anything, but often treating us to day-trips and nice meals. Though she and her family come from humble beginnings, her two brothers and 3 out of 4 sisters have all done quite well for themselves both professionally and financially.
I hope to get a resident/work visa this week and look for work here in the near future. If no suitable job here arises, I may return to the US and work, as there is a demand for people who do what I do. Though my wife initially said she wanted to go to the US, I am getting the feeling that she prefers China - she is used to the urban life and I live in the middle-of-nowhere Deep South. No matter, I think we will make it work. I went whoring a year ago and ended-up with a nice-girl wife, how's that for luck?
