I agree with the whole "MPA is easy, no strings attatched, no bullshit" belief, and primarily thats why I enjoy this hobby. I can go and not have any feelings of commitment or loyalty. That is what is important to me. If there is an itch, it is able to be scratched for a few bucks. I am one of the fortunate ones that does not need to worry about money, so I really don't have to think about what I spend in this hobby. I didn't think to do an actual estimation until this thread was posted. There are some weeks where it is more, some, where it is less. It depends on whats going on, where I am etc.
Overall, compared to some... although I partake fairly regularly in low mileage mostly asian fun, I spend much less of a % of my income than some who probably make significantly less than I do. Does that mean they have a problem? I don't think so. If they enjoy it, and thats what they choose to spend their hard earned money on then who can argue that? It becomes a problem when you can't afford it, and you are still doing it. Either going into debt or selling off things, or worse... holding back from your children's wellbeing. To me that is when it is a problem because your "hobby" is negatively affecting your family.
A hobby is like any hobby, this one just revolves around sex. Doesnt matter if you collect beanie babies, model trains, or totem poles..... people will always think youre spending too much on something - without really looking at your financial and personal situation. Although most people on this board are blue collar types, family men who have to hide spending from their SO's, and do not have the means to financially partake as much as others.... there are a few that do have the disposable income to do so. I believe that they key is moderation, pay attention to the spending, keep control of your emotions and your desires, and enjoy a long time in the hobby. If you let things get out of control, you are risking a lot more than just an empty wallet.
Toronto is blessed with the amount of options we have for this hobby, all realms of it. People will bitch and complain, but as someone who has been all over the world, very few places can compare to the scene here in Toronto. Prices, talent, and Spa names change... like any business, but theres so much to choose from that it is easy to find what you're looking for.
