How often do YOU get a Massage?

When I recieve a massage I sometimes tell the therapist that I am a MT as well. It depends on the therapist and how they are. If a therapist doesn't ask, I don't always tell. Has anyone else noticed that the energy in the room shifts when you tell them that you are a massage therapist as well? I have noticed that it either freaks people out and the quality of the massage goes downhill OR the therapist is more likely to put him/herself more into the massage and it is SO much better.

I don't tend to say anything, because it tends to freak people out. When I first started, it certainly freaked ME out!  Now that I have had a few years and lots of clients, it doesn't freak me out as much as it used to, I remind myself to ground out, and just do what is needed to get the person to enjoy themselves.

For every 10 massages you give you should get one that is what i was told in school, but i could go for one every day!!!  ;D

I have decided, after my last terrible massage that I will not tell someone I'm an MT.  If I tell them I'm an MT, they start talking away and I really don't want to talk/listen to how their business is, or answer questions about my business. All the therapist did at my last session was talk, complain, etc. She's going to school for something completely different in Fall.  :

Last time received a full/half hour massage.....well , it's 2004 now so I'd have to say.....it has been a long time. I've taken the bump a few times for a trade in exchange for a paying client , among other things. I decided to set up a monetary trade system--the price for therapist to therapist is very low(just about half) out of professional courtesy--then when we switch , we pay back that amount-------problem is , most therapists have only taken the first part of that deal---over and over again-------so there is money made , but no massages received...I keep hoping this will change , but if not then I'll have to actually not trade and go to a spa or something......I know---wah, wah,wah------- I'll just give myself my bottle and be quiet.
