That's fine that you aren't the negotiating type, some are and some aren't I just fail to see why you took the conversation down a negative track?
The fact you have experience through PMs and such shouldn't play into effect here because people weren't saying they expected FS for $40.
This is the very definition of an objective industry! There are so many different variables beyond just price and both parties can choose to accept or decline.

I do agree that some have been quoted above acceptable rates. My quotes or offering have relatively been consistent, but I don’t see a serious difference between a $40 tip and a $60 tip or even an $80 tip. I do however judge if I’ll return based on the asking and the service. Though price is rarely the deciding factor for me.
I guess I see this hobby less about how much I can get for the lowest price.
Personally I have a 5 point priority list. If I could find a lady to meet all 5, I doubt I’d venture away.
1. Location. This is crucial as it provides me the convenience to see them when the mood strikes.
2. Looks and body. I’ve had great service from and aunties and hag’s, but have more often gone back to the pretty ladies just because.
3. Massage capability. This should be #1 on the list as I won’t return if the massage is crap regardless of the looks or location. But let’s face it, I’m not in this solely to work out knots.
4. Service and sensuality. The quality of the extras and how well the lady gets into it is a huge part of the experience. As I said, a disinterested jackhammer is not the experience I’m looking to pay for.
5. Price. I’m not rich, but I believe you get what you pay for and will pay well when the above 4 points are met or exceeded. Having said that, I do have my limits and believe the Edmonton market could use a bit of an equalization with the rest of the country.

No worries everyone has a bad day and sometimes it's just a matter of not knowing how comments are coming across, I know I am guilty of this frequently.
Your list pretty much mirrors mine but with me the ranking position can change day to day depending on my mood and what I am looking for that day but number 4 for me is a huge one. I don't want someone who cannot at least fake that they are having fun
