5555. Happened to me the other day as well. Was walking down Bangla 5-ish and realized that I didn't have enough for the fare home. So popped into the ATM, withdrew 1K and casually stuffed it in my pocket.

I obviously had been target…

Saw an LB walking past me on the other side of the street, before starting to cross and heading towards me. Tilak… Go with you… I tried to avoid him as best I could, but had gotten too close. He then grabbed my crouch --- bl00dy strong grip as well --- which led me to instinctively take my hands out of my pockets. And the rest is history as they say.

Did not notice it before I was about to pay back in Kamala.

Funny thing, it did not even occur to me that the crouch-grabbing could in fact have been a robbery. Too accustomed to the "it-doesn't-happen-to-me" mentality I guess...

how do you stop it when you rent a hotel on the beach in an international destination actively pushed by the tourist authority and you get off a motorbike and are immediately set on upon?
how do you stop that without just stepping off the MB and belting them?
i don't have your military background but i just don't know how i can stop it?

i'd love to hear how i am suppose to stop that and that it is somehow my fault?

it is an issue that LB's are trying to rob people right out in the open on beach rd
i think it is a huge issue that i won't go back to one of the bigger hotels on beach rd even though I immensely enjoyed the hotel itself because i was attacked by LB's every single morning
they ruined that part of my holiday. i paid good money for a good hotel and it was ruined by LB's trying to steal from me every morning

how is that not an issue?

just because you enjoy LB's doesnt mean that there are not bad ones on bach rd trying to do harm to people just trying to enjoy their holiday and go back to their hotel that they paid for as in the same breath, it doesn't mean all LB's are bad because there are bad ones on beach rd

It's a 'family' holiday destination as well apparently.

The 'infamous ladyboys of Olde Beach Road' are, IMHO, dealable with by me and I've seen you put people on their back with one punch and I don't get the paranoia whether I like them or not! I've never talked to, taken from or frequented the beach road at night looking for..........anything really!

Watched the Thai Elvis down there once and it was bloody brilliant!

Patong at night is a squalid, seedy huddle of small bars full of blokes on the piss and girls who fcuk for money and people who want to part me from my money, hopefully as painlessly as possible! I've never tried to delude myself that it is anything other than that! Disney it isn't.

I am more concerned about a yabba'd up BG giving me a bottle to the head.

Saying the wrong thing to a tout and having his mates all over me like a rash.

Other drunken winkers of any nationality bumping into me and wanting a fight over it!

Being followed home with the takings from my business.

Having my Bin padded, complaining and having Soi security give me a quick seeing to!

Being arrested by the MIB for actually being a 'witness' to a fight!

Driving my motorbike anywhere at night, sober or not!

Going for petrol or the 7-11 and having a gun pulled on me.

There's internationally promoted hotels here in Kabul but I wouldn't stay at any of them!

There's lots of 'issues' about Patong IMHO tuk tuks, jetskis, state of the police, unsafe swimming, dual pricing etc etc not all of them good......BUT......It doesn't seem to stop us and thousands of others going there!

I would have been attacked by LB's outside my hotel once and I am afraid I would have moved, same same if the food was cr4p.

Saying that, thousands of familys have great holidays in Patong every year with no problems at all!

I take the place, Patong, for what it is and have my eyes wide open. If I didn't want the 'potential' of meeting touts, prostitutes, ladyboys, corrupt police, drunks, hustlers, pushers, dealers, pickpockets, my mates in a seedy, loud, sexily clad girly dancing district catering fundamentally to blokes paying to get their leg over.........where would I meet them!

PS: Anybody saying Rochdale vill be shot! :yes:

I don't know about others, but I feel much safer walking around Patong late at night, than I do in any big American city. For me, "late at night" means up to 2am; after that, I wouldn't feel comfortable walking around, but it would be the same feeling about doing that anywhere at that hour.

Walking around drunk out of your mind is just an open invitation for someone to take advaneforum.xxxe of your condition. If you were walking around a big American city equally drunk, you'd probably be locked up by the police. If you don't want to be robbed, you really don't want to be walking around in deserted places at 4 in the morning, especially so if you're wasted. It's mostly common sense.

I was in patts about a week ago, in a bar dancing about when a lady comes over, puts her arms around me, starts dancing and unbuttons the back pocket on my pants. I didn't realise at the time but shrugged her off before she could get the cash.

About an hour later, same lady bumps into me whilst i was walking back from the toilets and i feel the hand slip in my front pocket and catch her. I just made a public display of what she was trying to do and she flittered away. i realised then, that earlier she had a pop at my back pocket. The lady turned out to be a ladyboy.

few days later in hollywood (patong), walking out of the toilets i feel a hand go in my front pocket ...spun around and there was a young thai lad behind me. probably the culprit but i wasn't planning on taking it further cus it was just a few low value notes. no intention of kicking up a fuss with a thai bloke with thai security anyway.

if i was walking anywhere i just took my money out of my pocket and held it.

i wear loose linen pants too, which are probably easy to pick.

My mate, who's usually really careful, got his wallet lifted in chatuchak market in bkk too.
