I thought about keeping my mouth shut, but figured I'd end up with more trouble than it's worth. As not2old said, I have the right to remain silent, but in some cases it may bring MORE problems, not less.

They may have my name but I was not caught in the middle of anything but getting a massage, so I was not engaged in anything remotely illegal.

i'd just leave the id at home, or in the car. i'd leave the car parked somewhere other then the parking lot of the amp/mp.

Good advice. I never park in the lot or too close to any place I go.
All the city bylaw harassment of MP's in Richmond is the reason I'll probably never poon there, even though it's very convenient for me.

Personally, I don't think that you have anything to worry about. I was caught in a raid at Accupointe (now Q Pointe) near Metrotown a few years ago and went through the same ordeal. ID was taken and run through the RCMP computer and then returned to me (20-30 min later) and then a stern lecture about what these places are all about and the inherent risks.

Most recently, a bud of mine got caught at a micro and went through the same thing with the same "non-issue" result.

At the end of the day, police are generally looking for illegal immigrants/ workers, people with outstanding criminal issues, underaged, drug related issues and such. Basically, something that they can really sink their teeth into and make stick! So, if you don't have any of the above issues then they won't bother you past the initial interrogation. Don't Worry! Creating paperwork for themselves over a non-offence is stupid. Police rather spend their time at Tim's.....

It'd be interesting to hear from someone who didn't cooperate with the LE at a bust/raid.

"Go ahead, make my day" is the first thing that comes to mind.

If you leave your ID at home, LE would probably be MORE interested in you.

guys... all you're obliged to do is Identify yourself. You do not have to say a word past that. You can ask "Am I free to go? or am I being detained? If I am being detained, I would like to speak with a lawyer before I answer any questions." These rights are guaranteed under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

You can also download and print a copy of the Pivot legal society's rights card and just hand over the card and say absolutely nothing to LE.

Actually you are required by law to carry your id on you,any time you are in an over 19 establishment.Regardless of your age, you can dispute but you are just creating a problem. last but not least I know for sure they do not keep any record of you unless something illegal is going on. In that case you can even be charged just for being there even if it is the guy in the next room doing it and you are fully clothed!!!!!NOT likely you get charged but you will be on file

I agree that perhaps LE are only after illegal immigrants but illegal immigrants also come from the US, Europe, Latin America and not just from Asia. I wonder if MPs like Cleo, BBC, foxden, Swedish (Can't) Touch, etc. are ever raided by LE.

OK guys here it is....if you dont give LE your ID, they can hold you until they can identify you. Let s say for instance that the guy in the next roon freaked out and admitted to paying for it, you then can be held because you dont have any ID. They can also say that you are believed to have outstanding warrents nad since you have no ID, they will hold you till they identify you. The bottom line is this, if you dint want your ass in a bind, hand them your ID and take the lecture and you will be home for dinner. If you make it hard for LE, they will fuk you and they will take pleasure in it.
