Madame Cleos closes after 19 years

Having just dropped their rates recently because I would imagine business was slow at the previous rates, its hard to believe that they would then enact a suicidal policy designed to drive away those very customers they are trying to attract.

Maybe your source was bostich as if its actually happening it could be a way of screening out known bad clients who may have been harrassing the girls working there knowing that no one would actually pay it and would be forced to walk or maybe as a policy to discourage those who request viewing the lineup on a frequent basis to the point of annoyance without taking anyone.

All I know is that Ive "window shopped" a few times over the last month without taking anyone and never been charged including a couple of days ago so if there is a charge I doubt it affects the "regular type" client.

I don't know if Spa S is charging money to see the lineup, but I do know The Fox Den at 4717 Kingsway charges you a $ 100 cancellation fee if you walk out, and you can't meet the girls first.

But look at Spa S's employment ad in the Georgia Straight.

It says girls who work at Spa S won't have to worry about the "Window Shoppers".

By "Window Shoppers" they refer to guys who just wanna drop by and look.

You never see that policy in Edmonton, Toronto, or Montreal spas. You treat clients like shit in those cities you'll find your ass out of business in a hurry.

Too much competition in those cities, and competition is what we need more of here.

Thing is, if Madame Cleos was reopening, by now I'm sure they would've posted some employment ads such as what Spa S is doing right now in the Georgia Straight, cause before Cleos reopens they'll need a full staff.

All I know about Cleos is when I asked their staff, they said they wanted to reopen on Granville within 2 or 3 blocks of the 1094 block.

But I've looked around Granville and can't see any vacant building that would have the floor space to accomodate them.

Anywhere else downtown I'm not sure if they'd get the zoning from the City with all the development going on.

I asked the manager at Shangri-La in Cloverdale and she didn't think they'd get approval from the City to reopen.

And I would hope Spa S stops running ads in the Georgia Straight referring to potential clientelle as "Window Shoppers".

Engaged in window shopping at Spa S recently and there were no issues. It's a one-by-one affair like at most spots.

The MC line-up approach was one-of-a-kind.

Another comment about MCs - indeed, the girls complained about the rules, but if pooners ever had their mind set on one particular SP, it was almost a sure thing. Isn't that simply good management on MC's part? To follow up on vanboy's point - it's about service.

I have met Rebecca and she is very nice to her clients, to the girls who work for her she is a dragon lady. A few years ago I went for an interview there and she did the interview and was very, extreme authoritarian. I decided not to work for Hitler and went to the Platinum club, where every one was very nice, lol.

What kind of a moron would sign-up with his credit card when it says right on the website that they are closed?

The membership re-bills stopped in August when they closed. At least, mine did, I didnt' have to request it or anything, it just stopped. Presumably because they have no staff while they're closed.

Well the site says, and two different pop up windows pop up, they're reopening this month, so it's not a matter of being a moron or not.

Then again mabey Rebecca is selling. You'd want to keep the site active during a sale cause the buyer would want to maintain the interest of the clients.

It's more than just buying the business; it's a service industry, much like a restaurant for example, so you're also buying the client's business.

whenever I walked into Cleos they had their cards sitting there. There must be a connection cause they're not returning calls either, though the gal on the recording has a nice voice

I recognize that voice distinctly and remember her as Amber, a manager. At least that's how she introduced herself to me.

She told me straight to my face that they weren't moving. When I asked about the Development sign outside, she said she knew nothing of it.

So how could she possibly be the owner?

Rebecca, is Amber she used to pretend to be working and when she would get picked pretend she had an appointment....LOL She used to work with brandi at the swedish Touch but that was a long time ago.... Yes its the same brandi that worked at the touch years ago,that owns the touch and the strip club.....It is funny though she interviewed with the Sun newspapers a few years ago and made it sound like she had never worked lol....funny people seem to forget where they came from...

I only went to Cleos once - years ago - beautiful girls - terrible service. I don't think this city can really Support that kind of business anymore. Too many independents and price pressures from the Micros.
