Went into town today for the food fest. 3 different Thai food stalls. Had fun with the girls and the food was good too. Tend to stick to local pubs also. Plenty of good bands around.

The best beers in the world and a massive selection. Delirium Tremens is my fave. Bush golden is also class but at about 10 percent you don't need many! Leffe is a good regular although I think they also do a Leffe 9percent.

well, both
most are just students/part timers
but in the old time steakhouses and some fancy hotel bars you have career bartenders/waiters
and they usually tend to be extremely good

i think i told this before. i knew this super hot bond girl. she worked as an accountant but in the summers she would bartend at the Jersey shore in the summers and make 1k usd/nt Friday and Sat

Had the same thing happen to me in MTB on my last trip in June. After a while I called the mamasan and said I buy drink for and pointed to all the staff who hadn't nagged me for a drink. She looked at me with her typical sad face and I told her No, you ask drink too much. After that she didn't bother me anymore, so I bought her a few drinks on my last night.

bar staff are fairly well paid in Oz (casual rates $20/hr + aprox. plus penalty rates for weekends and holidays at my regular drinking hole) so no need for a tip,although plenty of people leave some small coin in the tray for them. usually all friendly and hard working.

you either tip or your dont...simple as that....dont think it matters if the server relies on tips or gets a wage.....as the customer that is not my problem....if i walk into your bar/resturant ect and i get good service....i will tip becouse you have enhanced my experance....if you have an attitude and seem to be doing me a favour...i dont tip..

when in los think its only fair to buy the bg if she has spent time with you in the bar playing games ect....hate it when you get repeated requests from bar staff for drinks...perhaps becouse they know me so well in mtb..when a tip is asked for i never give....its just anoying.
