my gf is eagled-eyed when it comes ot bar bills and such
but completely useless with bargaining down for me when buying clothes and such

one night, i had about 35k baht and gave it to my gf
this was a ripping night with me, denver, hobbsy and dodger and her friends
we all went to safari and then to market, which i decided not to stay
i left all those guys and went back to my gf's room, only to puke all over her balcony
being completely wasted, i forgot i gave her my money, so i thought i lost about 35k
i proceeded to put my clothes back on and go look for it
my gf found me walking down the street at 6am on her way home
looking for my money

When I go out I only take a limited amout of money with me, depending on the bar I´m in I try and keep an idea as to how much my bill is re the amout of cash i have on me. Have never had any problems with extra bins wherever I´ve been

More likely he was arguing about the bill. That bar has the most expensive ladydrinks of the Tiger bars.....minimum 200baht even for a squirt of orange juice.

I try to pay my bin every now and then too, but after the first or second, I could not be bothered anymore.

The other night I proceeded to hand all the dosh in my pocket over to a girl I just met in Tai Pan. Almost 2K I reckon. (Since she had just a small pair of tights on she stuck it in her bra. Is that what you guys call “drink padding”?). After that I just ordered drinks from her.

Mind you, she did give me back a couple of crumpled (and happy?) hundred baht notes in the end…

Taipan etc asks you to pay for each drink as it arrives and they expect a tip(?20baht) on every round(which is every drink for me on my own). That's a hell of a mark up.

Never had any problems either and I like the current system. I doubt that there overall are any real issues or the bar would have changed it.

If as a patron you are worried, initial each of your receipts before the are stuffed in the bin. Makes it easy to audit, even if you are drunk. Never done it and probably never will.

same as LiL + M26.........I've had nights out when I'm stonkered and looked at my bill and it's been under 1k...........and then other nights when I'm sober and surprised as I must have been buying the staff and all my mates around me drinks all night.......I reckon it all comes out in the wash........

If it is MTB or Love Bar I couldn't care less as I trust the staff who look after me very well......but in other joints I keep a reasonable watch on my tab........

i am a periodic bin checker, check the bin every few drinks.
also after little bit if i am having a session, i will check bin, and start a new bin, just to keep track.

landmark hotel in bkk, they tried to do an old dodgy, and keep 200 baht under the bill in the folder, just hoping i wouldnt check it, wife checked it though and caught the ruse.

I also think that paying your bin after every 3-5 drinks is the way to go.

Adding extras onto your bill happens everywhere, not just in Thailand sometimes it's a mistake and other times a rort.

I was eating chinese the other night and the bill came back with an extra 2 glasses of wine on it. Nobody at the table drank wine, no problem when I questioned the waiter and all was sorted. Another night in a classy restaurant was over charged for a $50.00 bottle of wine, once again no body drank wine that night but I didn't realise the over charge till I got home, this pissed me off and I lost $50.00.

On the other hand I went to Maccas the other day ordered 1 x big mac meal and 3 x cheese burger meals, the bill came to about $21.00 give or take. I gave the cashier a $50.00 note and she gave me $45.00 change, I pocketed the money and didn't say anything because it was Macca's.

Sometimes you lose and some times you win.

I guess I trusted everybody. Never checked my bin (and it seemed ok when I paid, but I didn't count my drinks), paid Tuk-Tuk-drivers in advance (gave 1000 bath from Patong to Kata Noi when he couldn't give me change, and got 400 back when he picked me up in the afternoon), and I didn't even think about getting screwed in the bars.

Once, and that was in one of the bars in Bangla, on the right from the beach, the girl forgot (at least I tought so) to put two tequilas (one for me and one for her) on the bill, and I saw it and mentioned it when I paid, but she said it was on the house.

Maybe I was a little bit naive, but every thai I met was so nice that I'd never even tought about getting screwed.

I dont use flat rate for bell rings, its per head and also LD if the bell ringers agree. (Most do)

I do however, recommend people to just buy for the girls or their friends if they dont know the other customers in the bar.

I like to see the girls getting something out of it.

If I had a bigger bar I would definitely go for a running tab system.
