Not my style and I don't think it will be a lot of people's style.
People want to wear shorts and thongs at a beach resort. They also want reasonably priced booze and most importantly, most people want to drink outside.
Music, dancing? They'll go to Safari, or, another one of those places close by, have just as much fun for a lot cheaper price.

What happened to the Lounge Bar in that sub-soi of Bangla?
It was roughly the same concept and was on the 2nd floor.
Within a couple of months from opening, it was up for sale at some ridiculous price.
This concept has been tried before and it has failed every time.

I hope Friday is some proper 'harder' music. The entire of phuket seems to play the same generic dance unless a name DJ is in town (rarely).

By locals I mean us, the expats!

If we all tried a bit harder to show support for new venues, events etc it would be better for everyone.

In the past I have put down places, to be honest I can't stand going to Bangla anymore. But I do venture down there occasionally and I always drop in to MTB for a few.... support!

I just think that Phuket has some major problems and it is going to get worse. Now is the time that we can all try to help.

The Fashion Show looked empty! Not good for the cameras, people see that and think well its dead so I won't bother going. Organisers give up and we lose out on another new thing. Personally I'm not interested what G2000 or Daks have got next season, but it was a good night.

More things for Phuket show potential tourists that its a happening, vibrant place to visit, its not just sex tourism!

We now have many quality bars, clubs and restaurants etc. This can only be a good thing no?

When I used to come here on holiday sure I loved hitting the bars down Bangla but some nights I wanted something different, bar fine a girl and go and have quality night out with good music.... there wasn't many choices though.

Every Saturday afternoon I have a stall selling clothes at the Bazaar at Nine Bar. Its not about making money its just something different to do. Its great, have DJ's on spinning good tunes, nice food, great cocktails.

I have mentioned it on here.... never seen any BM's there?

Do you know about Phuket House Mafia?

A group of local DJ's that play quality music, they do Stereo Lab, Nine Bar, Soundwave Sundays, White Box etc.

Good lads and excellent music, if you haven't already, check them out for doing some nights at Sound Club. They have a good following also.

I think you will find a famous international DJ.....the kind Sounds will be after for its special nights....will be getting 5-10 times that for a gig with their franchise promoted by thousands of $$ in advertising revenue

Depends on how famous they are, if they are out here already and whats included in the package I guess. I know quite a few DJ's here in Thailand and know what they charge and used to know a guy that was a famous DJ in Japan who lived here and flew out to DJ.

When you start talking about very well known DJ's it would be pretty easy to spend a lot of money.

It looks great, I give it less than 6 months. Something like this can survive in Bangkok, but its IMO a terrible location and the dress code is absurd - Great for fine dining, but who's gonna be wearing shoes, shirt, trousers here. As Los said its been tried before with disastrous consequences.

I just don't think people come to Phuket to go to a posh nightclub and dance around handbags.

I went there last night for a couple of hours it's a serious club with all the good stuff.

But launching in July and enforcing a dress code and charging top baht will be hard to support. If there is a cover, it won't work. They need to give comp drinks to the ladies or they will never recover (like seduction). A high end launch in a very low Low Season is a very tricky thing.

Could work in the high season. But I like it.

Sure a very well known one may get that for a big event but its still basic business so the night has to make a profit.
