Hi Butterfly

My mate Tommy is now permanent in Patong helping to take care of Love Bar. I will be circulating round Scotland, Chum Phae and Patong, so hopefully I will be in Patong in Nov-04. Im just swithering as to whether I go in July as I have to go back Sep-04 for our first shipment of BG beater.

How do the ugly or older BG's survive

Okay I have a few older / ugly ones in my bar, as all the girls come from the same village they are there to help the others etc...

You have to understand at home in Isaan they income if they are lucky is 100baht per day, I am not jesting here!!!!

So if they stay in Patong, they get accomm free (bar house provided) and pretty much food free as its communal eating. Clothes are passed down from the successful BG's, or in our case my GF and family buy them at the market etc... They will get the odd BF and can sell lady drinks, so in every way they are financially better off than at home and of course they can send some money back too...

Last but not least all BG's who work together help each other financially without giving a though for who ows what, alas until they fall out then the uncanny memory comes into play...

MikeGB, You're apology to Apollo reflects well upon you. Classy move. I also was taken aback by your comment on Americans, and appreciated the explanation, which made sense. It is not that Americans frequent hookers more. They probably patronize them less because they simply can't afford to. Most Americans never have been to a hooker. Every time I fill my gas tank w/ " petrol", which is several times weekly, at $35 to $40 a pop, I think, "Jesus, I could be spending the night w/ a BG and have money left for drinks or dinner for this much." Seems incredibly cheap. To the American mind, how you could spend 2000 Baht or more on drinks, but not be OK w/ spending that much to f*ck the BG and have her all night, is incomprehensible.
It is the same with tipping. Some Euros don't tip or tip little, but no self-respecting American will tip less than 15% at a restaurant, some tip that much to bartenders, as well, and some tip 20%. I would never tip less than 15% in America, but I realize LOS is different. Not all Americans make that distinction.
My 1st two nights in LOS, I spent $60 for ST and $100 for LT. I thought it was reasonable. I learned fast, and have only once since paid 2000 Baht(she was well worth it! :biggrinlo ). But Americans mostly don't like to quibble. In America, the prices are set and there is rarely a situation which involves negotiating, except when buying cars and houses(but houses often sell for more than asking price!). My friends typically pay 2000 LT plus 600 BF(BKK), except for one who always paid 3000 plus BF, plus 200 "lady charge" at hotel he stayed at.
When I tell them I don't like to pay more than 1000, they think I am foolish, and say, "You get what you pay for," and this is a prevalent attitude in US.
Also because US is so far from LOS(20 to 25 hours on plane), you don't get very many average blokes zipping off to LOS for 2 week holidays. Most of us don't even get more than 2 weeks paid holiday in a year. Many, such as myself, get none. So the ones in LOS are usually only the more financially well-off or the horniest(that's me).
As for most "beautiful" girls in gogos, I don't think anyone made that statement. Apollo, Bafana, and I expressed the opinon that "on average," the gogos look better than BGS. Look better, not are better. I agree that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and yet another saying is "the pretty girl always gets asked to the dance first", so while many will disagree who is the prettier of 2 pretty ones, few will pick the average one or "ugly" one as better-looking. I have only been to Rockhard, Showgirls, and Playschool(& Nana BKK), and not to what I am now told are some dicey clubs w/ razor shows, etc, and sound like they have some ugly girls. Maybe if you count them it makes a difference. None of us are saying there aren't many BGs as beautiful or more so than any gogo girl. You just got to do more walking, more looking, to find them some nights.
As Apollo said, he is jealous of men who find great beauty in average or lesser girls, and that feeling compelled to settle for only the beautiful looks, not being able to prefer the inner beauty, is a curse. I have often said the same things. I fought against the curse, but finally had to accept it. You would think that the fact that I have had some of the best times w/ girls who weren't as beautiful would cure me of this curse, but it never seems to matter. It seems like we are masochists, but it is just how some of us are born.

JB, thanks for the input. Guess I'm not alone--I'm very picky indeed, and not at all proud of it. In fact, I'm envious of the less picky blokes--they've got that right idea, not me. By and large, being too picky is basically a curse. That said, I still cannot get over my own "standards," even if that means going home alone in LoS....

Sounds like the following, while a generalization, is largely true:

Gogos dancers, on average, are better looking than bgs;
Unless it's low season, the stunners expect around 3,000 lt;
Even in low season, about 1,500 lt is as low as most will go;
Although some show up at the bars after closing, most are too tired to hit
a discos after work (understandable);
With a few exceptions, gogo girls are more money-oriented than bgs and flers;
Performance in the sack cannot be generalized; each one different.

Please let me know if any of the above (again, generalizations; not always the case) are incorrect.

What I find nice is not what you find nice and vice versa. The questions you should be asking are - "Is there enough available girls in the Patong area for me to find what I want?"

You know the answer is yes.

Geespot was talking about the older girls and how they survive. I have seen a LOT of older women with guys. The guys choose them because they know/think that they will be better looked after, and maybe they are right.

It all boils down to this -

In Thailand, you can sleep with the most amazingly beautiful girl (or boy ), but if you dont 'click' in some way with them, then you will get bored.

Just get out there and 'do it'. Have fun and tell your stories.
As far as price goes, then pay what you want. You know what you should be paying. 3,000 baht? Jesus! No wonder I am having to work at the weekend to afford trips away !

I really do hope you get what you want, but I think before people go to thailand, maybe they should really think about what they want out of it....

Whilst I will not go into the reasons why and why not, girls work in gogo's for obvious reasons, and there are definite advaneforum.xxxes for the girls. One thing I will say, is that there has been too many occassions, where some ridiculous amounts have been paid to the girls by punters. The girls do understand that these ocassions are the exception and not the rule, so don't worry they don't expect it all the time.

As has been said before, if a girl doesn't want to, or can't go with a punter, then the easiest way out for her is to elevate her fee, it doesn't mean that that is her normal asking fee. Normally thats the end of it, and away he walks, but I have seen occassions where the punter accepts the elevated fee. Then it becomes interesting to watch what happens after that.

Nice to have your views on things. All sensible stuff. I TOTALLY agree that 2,000 baht or even 3,000 baht is not a lot of money to sleep with another person and have them with you for 24 hours. Just think os how much pay we receive for about 8 hours work. For me, usually about 7,000 baht and my boss fcuks me in different ways
Like you said, its about knowing the 'going rate'.

I think Stella is also a fantastic drink. Dont worry about the problems it may cause because by the time it 'kicks in' properly, the person, and the trouble, will be outside the 7-11. Well away from your bar

p.s. I worked in Belgium for a while and obviously loved stell, but for me, even better than Stella is a drink called Jupiler. It is just as strong as Stella, but is very 'clean' and easy to drink, and I NEVER had any bad heads the next day from it. Just a shame you cant get it easily in the UK

The silliest thing I ever saw was when about 10 Japanese people came into the Moulin Rose bar in Soi Katoey.
At the time it was the Andaman Queen cabaret show. There was a 'girl' who had very nice breasts. The Japanese thought was soooooo funny to go and pin 500 and 1,000 baht notes on her while she was 'singing'. In 3 minutes she made around 10,000 baht !!!!!!!!
After thet, the Japs started arm wrestling. Me and my friend watched for a little bit, then I challenged the winner. It was the easiest 1,000 baht I have ever made. If I was really clever I should have taken him for about 10,000 baht, but i was trying to make him look soft and pushed him over within 1 second. When will I learn................

The problem for me is supply and demand, I will be buying my supply from Belgium anyway. I think a lot of people especially from UK who are not price sensitive will happily buy a bottle of Stella for 150baht because thats their no1 1 drink.

Yes I know many people stick to the LOS experience and will only drink the local brew which is a lot cheaper, thats fine and good im not wanting to flood the market or anything; like us UK people have done to many resorts in Europe, just my own little venture trying to get by...........

As for Jupiler that sounds the business and I will give it a taste when I go to Belgium next week but alas Stella outsells every other premium beer in the UK by 5 to 1, so you can no doubt see were im coming from.

On another note I was in a rather trendy bar in Glasgow last week, what was on the drinks menu? Singha beer, 330ml bottle, guess how much?: £2.95, thats about 212baht...........f.ck

Anyway if anybody has any thoughts on sellable alcohol for LOS I would appreciate feedback

This is real bad beer! Prefer the Thai Singha and Chang !!!

Now you have as a good beer : Duvel, Trapisst Chimay or Westmalle, Leffe, really great, Koninck, a reddish beer from Antwerp, Hoegaarden a sweet beer, and many others!

We call "Stella" the head-ache beer! Light, but still very bad!! Jupiler, has no taste and should be avoided at any time!

Prefer even the "Carlsberg " from Denmark!

UK visitors are in top 3 population for the bar scene in Phuket
Stella is no 1 premium beer in UK, 10 billion UK Sterling pounds per year, the next best is Kronebourg at 3 billion

Cannot comment on taste etc, Im looking at the economics

I understand what you are saying, but you have to realise that we in the UK are Lager louts, and we dont have all the Chimay etc. If you usually drank the piss we do in Britain, then you would realise that Stella and the likes of Jupiler are fizzy lagers that appeal to our unrefined pallates

We have a lot of 'Real Ales' which appeal to old pipe smokers who work on steam engines. That is the closest we get to Trapisst etc.

I think we find Stella easy to drink. 10 bottles of Duvel and I would need a wheelchair
