Police Crackdown on Patong Bars

Finally, after 3 months in monkeyland, next week I'm heading to LOS again - straight to my favourite playgarden in Phuket. I was just wondering if anyone could drop me an update about closing times these days.
I'm thinking about Tai Pan, Baya and Safari as well. Wanna rave all night but I guess that is just long gone history. I hope I'm wrong however.

This issue is all over the place. I think the only thing anyone can do is wait and see..... Except ofcourse bar and business owners that should now make themsleves heard before the 90 days grace is over.

A lot of the big inter clubs in BKK, such as BED, Q bar and 808 in RCA have been getting closed before 1am and been really suffering. Surprisingly all of this started around the same time Mr T touched down.

i was in bangkok last week & "cowboy" was closed by MIB at 1.00am - also bars along Suk Soi 7/1.

With any luck a solution will be worked out by the time the 90 days is up but even if there isn't one the authorities in Phuket want late closing hours and it will be a question if if the law is enforced... same same.

One of my mates who is in Phuket now told me 2 days ago that everything closed in Patong at 2 a.m (even Safari). And that it had been like that for a week already.
I hope this will change for the Songkran period.

Went Bangla way last night , all bars except 2 near Hells Bells closed at 2am.
Thaipan, Baya and the new Rock City closed at 3am I think..., the Black Dog near the C and N , the bars on San Sabaii still open at 5am...

It 'works' in Pattaya. i know there's no beach but peeps just go out earlier. That said there are still (police run!!) places where you can continue the motion. For me a comparable area to Soi 6 would be great down here as i'd rather be out earlier and home to bed. The beach issue is not realy one anyway as most BMs probably don't know where the beach is!! There will always be big divides on this issue amongst people who visit and party in Phuket. As for the drugs angle young thais (other than the girls) aren't congregating in Bangla for drugs anyway. They should be out hitting the places where they know the drug trade is going on.

My mate in Patong Beach, who has lived there a few years says the tourist numbers have gone berserk this week, maybe its just his perception?

Here in Chiang Mai there are a lot of tourists, especially small groups of young blond European girls shopping for trinkets. Sadly they avoid the beer bars completely.

Just got back from a much too short week in Patong. Disco's open untill 5.00am during the weekend. I love it ! Went to Safari last friday after 5.00am and the places were all deserted : Safari, Underground and the new one next door. Want to go back to Patong and tuk tuk scummers wants to charge me 300. I answered them: "look what you have done - you guys charge more each time and you'll end up jobless because who wants to come from patong paying 500-600 bath round-trip without guarantees to find the place running. I informed that they wont have my business neither and I rather walk back. I'm sure lots of people originating from Patong stay away because of high transportation costs.
Result: No people inside the venues, early closing or not even starting.
I ended up riding a motosai taxi back to Patong who charged me 100.

Bearing in mind a lot of the FL girls don't go out til midnite or later now it would be a very lonely night!
