S.O.S beer Lao running out

Yep, it is now my beer of choice, a bit of a becks style taste to it i reckon, BUT it is very hard to have a whole night out on it unless you plan where you are going, i have found about 50% of the bars i have been in Bangers have it in stock.

Try some nice Belgium beers Paul.Chimay has a 7, 8 and 9% that I have tried here. Duvel is another nice strong beer.

only ever had it when we stayed with Geir on KP a while back.....it tastes pretty good but I prefer a lighter beer as I'm not really a beer drinker either....

And there are a lot of bars that don't even have the lite option....that surprises me that they don't even have San Mig light....yet they stock Corona, for example.

Out of curiosity, do you find that the light beers are more expensive? I've seen more than a few times where the San Mig light costs more than a regular Singha -- but I don't drink it personally so not sure.

They were serving it at the Aussie Bar last time we visited - but did not see it in any other bar we came across

Actually, a few bars in Bangkok on Soi Cowboy have some spanking brand new posters for Tiger Crystal (light) and one bar even ran a special for 70 baht one night. So it seems they are at least offering some "new" beers, or promoting them at least. I've always wondered why the beers offered is so limited, but look no further than the distributors, I guess.

That same bar also serves Beer Lao, I will take a look to see if they are running low.

I dont tend to notice the prices too much, except last night when i was in strikers and it was happy hour so was drinking for 65 baht(not sure regular price), went on to morning night and it was 95, after this was gullivers which did not stock it and then sanook which also did not have it.

so after that huge market research project i have concluded that 50% of bars in bangers stock singha lite, i think i will manage only only more field trip before having to go to work, but i imagine it will be the exact same trip as performed last night.

As a Tiger drinker i thought i'd give the Tiger light a try and in all honesty it was nasty.... not seen it in many places though. I do however see many people drinking Singha Light maybe because its a mid strength rather than a premium.

Its funny how people get mixed up when they see light on the bottle. San Mig light is premium 5% but Singha Light is 3.5%, I know many people who drank SML thinking it was low in alcohol !!

Have never tried beer laos but must give it a try one day. I really like the cans of Cheers beer (blue can) they sell in 7/eleven, if the bars sold this brew it would be my beer of choice.

SML has been a favourite with me, but I think it is still what you would call full strength beer. (4-5%).

Are there any low alcohol beers available these days, with my liver not really being what it used to be(probably about a 1/4 of it actually) maybe that would be a good option for me but i dont recall seeing any available.

Really? Even the Thais don't seem to drink that stuff... I've just never heard of anybody that actually even liked it, much less preferred it!

Actually, 7/11 has quite a few more beers than bars offer. Like the Chang Draught, etc. I haven't looked lately, but did Heineken Light ever make it to Thailand?

The people serving it do not know either, if i am in a bar and ask for singha lite and they dont have, they always offer me SML, as if it is the same, just because it has light in the name.

There`s also Chang Lite.It`s low alcohol.
I`ve had it a couple of times,but not too many places have it.



Same same,i`ll always asked for Singha Lite,most places "no hab",then they`ll say SML,and i`ll say no give me a Tiger.
Always get a strange look back as they seem to think they have half of what i asked for...555

The Chimay is brilliant.........used to drink it a lot back in Noggieand......Most of it is Trapist(spelling) i guess.......And the good thing, it don't really tast like a strong beer.

Ok thats good to know Crusty, i've only ever seen it cans but the long necks are good for the fridge. Which 7/11 is that, i'll have to stock up :great:

The ones either side of Ban Boa Hotel.It is normally on bottom shelf next to the Archer and big Hienikens/Tigers.:aww:
